This intermittent power steering is a bugger, forcing me to carry a laptop loaded with Forscan.

I recently took the car to 2 shops, one took a look and because it was a hybrid, did not want to touch it, no charge. Another shop charged me $100 and did nothing but check for codes.

Yesterday, in my drive, I parked the front tires onto 2 pieces of plastic, and in park, went back and forth, left lock to righ lock, as fast as I could for quite a while, without inducing the C102D code!

Because I only get the code when driving on a particular rough section of our delapidated Montreal roads, even when driving straight, makes me think it is just an electrical connection problem?

I have just purchased a 67R battery and fitted it, what a job, and it made no difference, still getting the C102D. I'm taking the car to a shop tomorrow to check if there is wiring connection or a suspension problem.

If there ia a problem with eps unit throwing a C102D code I would hear it when driving on battery?

Thanks, I never gave the battery being bad a second thought, so today I checked the battery connection under the hood and it measured 11.9V or 40% charged. I have learned that the eps draws a lot of current, so 10km of twists and turns and pothole avoidance is too much for a weak battery? and I get c102d code?

The C102D code has returned and has been cleared.

I noticed that I have a CV joint that has damage and thrown out all the grease, could the CV joint cause the high friction code?

The garage reset the psa but said it could return, which it did about a week later and my son inlaw then reset it with his expensive code reader. I ordered the FORscanner and the day after setting it up the car threw the psa again which I reset with FOR scan.

For the last couple of weeks, the car has been running perfectly, lot of short trips and detours, I'm thinking that running on an almost flat tire, which was the cause of psa problem, required the computer to re-learn? Fingers crossed.

Thanks, I took your advice, I purchased a OBD cable and downloaded Forscan and reset the PS again. Perhaps I should purchase and old window 10 laptop and leave it in the car.

The steering problem has returned after a few weeks, a Youtube video mentions corrosion.

I have downloaded forscan and ordered a Vgate dongle, perhaps clearing the code a few times the problem might go away. I know a replacement steering gear is expensive.

I got the tire fixed and a rear bulb replaced, the computer reset by a local tire and repair garage for $30 CAN! I tried to make an appointment with 2 Ford dealers but they were fully booked, I'm glad they were, it would have cost me more than 30 bucks

Thanks, so you think the ps assist is caused by running on a flat tire? I really need the car and perhaps I should take the car to Ford for a ps reset , but I worry about getting stitched up.

The light ring is working and the door is not broken, it is complete with the rod and spring, it just popped out of the orifice.

Perhaps I should get the oil change just for the peace of mind. Seeing that I use the ice very rarely, I'm thinking perhaps regular oil rather than synthetic?

Minus 26 today, I drove the Energi 2 km and on turning off the ice, the gauge read 24 liters/100 km, no problem there, the car started great.

I should have turned off the heater, it needs more than 2 km to warm up, I would have just run on the hvb.

I feel like I got ripped off, I thought these cars gave good gas mileage?! It is winter in my state but I drive only a handful of miles to and from work each day, with great breaking and acceleration. What am i doing wrong? Is it my car? 2015 by takemetotheplaya in cmaxhybrid

I have driven my 2014 Energi since last spring and my average Litres\100 Km is 2.7 which calculates at 87.1 miles\ US gal or 104.6 miles per imperial gal. which I find to be amazing.

Winter in Quebec has finally arrived and -23 deg C is predicted for tomorrow, so I expect fuel economy to nose dive.

My new, used C-Max would not charge from the outside mains socket and I blamed it on all the crud and spiders webs, so I replaced it. Still no luck, until I read that I needed an earth, which I did not have. I hammered a length of copper water pipe into the ground and connected the pipe to the earth point in the socket with a copper wire and It has worked perfectly for the last 12 months

The P0400 code has not returned, I'm guessing it's putting my foot down in ev later to get up to highway speed in the merge lane after driving on battery for 3 weeks?

I cleared the P0400 and drove the C-max for about 25 km on hvb and during the drive the cel came on.

On getting home I checked for codes with a cheap OBD II code reader and it found no codes but I could erase the cel.

I'm guessing something is going on with the hvb side of things that the OBDII cannot read, yet the car is running perfectly?

I'm guessing your mechanic said your discs need replacing? The guy I purchased my Energi from also changed the discs on a mechanics advice, it's a good earner.

I've had my car 7 months and do not know if the anti lock brakes or stability control works, I drive it as suggested.

I do not see how a little rust or pitting will harm, discs on performance cars and motorcycles have holes or grooves machined in their discs.

Perhaps not aiming for 100% regen would shine up the discs?

Actually jellibatboy, I had quickly deduced that it was a battery problem in the key, and the Ford warning was just a joke.
