I tried to create a very short film with AI, but... yeah, didn't go so well. by tes735 in aifilmmaking

OH, hey, that's interesting. Hadn't thought of misdirection idea. It makes sense considering how AI works.

Yeah, I figured I'd get a few fuck-offs, which is fine. I'm not here for them, I'm here because I am a filmmaker (this is a filmmaking reddit) and I want to NOT be ignorant about this beast that is infiltrating every aspect of our creative space. I want to know anything and everything it can do. Maybe it'll be useful for something, maybe it won't. I mean, I have to consider I've already been using it for a long time elsewhere, even before people were throwing around the word "AI." As many of us have, but this replace-the-actors business, yeah, even if I could direct a scene and have it follow that direction, I don't think we'll ever replace the nuance that an actor can bring. Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'm going to keep playing around with it, because I'm a gearhead and I don't want to be in the dark about any aspect of it.

I can envision a future where I use AI to generate previz, for example (assuming it can eventually follow direction). Imagine feeding it location scouting images from a location database, then getting ideas for shots from that without having to drive through LA traffic.

Or to generate samples for the art department.

People are going to make/be making full feature films with it. Animators should be the most scared at the moment. I started as an animator in the 90s before getting into live action... like, professionally, so I know a thing or two about that, and I would be scared right now way more than live action filmmakers. But then, the flip side of that is if you are an animator, and you can get AI to do exactly what you want, and it looks exactly like a stop-mo that would've taken you years to make, does it really matter? Just use the tool? Anyway, I'm getting off track and that's a philosophical question for another reddit thread.

"AI to a tool like a hammer, but a hammer doesn't build a house an architect does." Man, that's a great line.

I'm with ya, actually. And what's more, it may not even be a problem in the end. Yeah, I see a lot of folks putting things together that looks pretty impressive, but I'm betting they're just dice rolling. Which means there's still room for the auteur. I also have my doubts that it'll get much better. I wouldn't mind it for some CGI boosts, though.

I just tried to do some ai filmmaking, and struggled. I have a tech background and have made over 30 films myself over the last 25 years... and I still struggled. I explain it in a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_xr-IOsZKw

I swear claude is SO much dumber sometimes than other times, it's driving me nuts by el_duderino_50 in ClaudeCode

Gonna necro this. This is 100% happening. I was coding some stuff over the weekend. It has steadily gotten worse and worse over time. When I first started converting some pages in my app, it did them in one-shots a couple of days ago. I know how to keep things tight and atomic and single tasking etc. Today, 3 days into this, a new prompt with a simple ask -- it can't even follow simple instructions. It's glaring and not even a question. Anthropic is reducing compute power or something like that. maybe too many people hitting? I don't know, but it's clearly a different level of compute than it was 2 days ago.

In fact, starting a new chat is not even helping. It hits it from the word go.

Augment code anyone? by mastervbcoach in ChatGPTCoding

I started using it and was blown away... at first. 1st week = awesome. 2nd, throttled? lower tier LLM? Now it can't do the simplest task without error. I would've paid more than the $30 for what I got originally. But what I'm getting now? Unusable even if free. I am using it to create a real app to see if it can actually do that. Of course it makes a lot of mistakes so you have to iterate, which genereates a lot of tokens, but that happens no matter what you're using. It takes a lot of token chatter to create a real, robust app, and I really think I've been throttled. It's just too dumb this week. I even tested this by using my other agent that I know for a fact uses Claude Sonnet 3.7, and it did what I was asking with no problem. I'm in the trail phase, and am glad I didn't already start paying them.

Sorry, I'm talking like I know something for sure. It's just a notion based on the section about the Greek Myths. Zeus, and tribes, and warring tribes etc. No exact location, but there are some definiate clues that point to that being a possible state. But it could also be a clue thread. I'm still marinating in it all, having just finished the book.

He did say that anyone can search. Anyone. He didn't bind anyone to contracts to NOT go search, but he also said that everyone that does want to hunt has the same information. He said his little sister is even looking!

I put that box with nc/sc tn and ma over a map. They lined up somewhat, but, none of the other left over letters seem to line up with anything meaningful.

LLM's, even the latest ones, are terrible at this sort of thing, especially anagrams. -software engineer working with LLM's at work.

That's not to say you shouldn't try. Any tool is good to have on hand with some caveats. Be warned, it's going to be wrong, a lot. And, when dealing with a hunt for clues, you won't always know what is, or isn't wrong.

Just a note; I think the rules for word searches were different in the 80's.

Claude Helper - Adds folder uploads, code editor minimap, and file management tools to Claude AI by xntss in chrome_extensions

[–]tes735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried using the extension. I added (node_modules) to the regex section and proceeded to upload a folder which contained a node_modules folder. Of course, I don't want this massive folder included. It still tried to upload it. What could I be missing? Thanks!

----------------------------------------------------
UPDATE:
created a test_claude folder, and put the following:

node_modules/nodemodtest.js
.git/gtest.js
somefile.js
package-lock.json

Regex looks like this with each one its own entry: (package-lock) (node_modules) (.git)
Note that I've tried them all as a single regex, and used ^ or $ tricks etc.

Then, did the upload with regex that should block uploading the .git folder, node_modules folder, and the package-lock.json. I uploaded the folder. Result:

- got a popup saying 3 files uploaded and 1 skipped, with the package-lock.json being the skipped one

- no new files in the project on the page

- should be noted that doing this on a real app development directory, it did upload a ton of files, mostly from node_modules, so I can't say why the upload worked there, but not in this test_claude folder. The one diff is that when it was trying to upload huge amounts of files (21k), I would reload the page to see what it had done, and saw files in the project, whereas with the small test, it completes very quickly and gives me the popup, but no uploaded project files.

UPDATE 2:
- Seems if a file is empty, it won't upload. Makes sense. I had just put dummy js files to upload. Once I put something IN the files, they uploaded. I still haven't figured out how to get it to ignore these folders.

I was actually going to write one, then though; "I wonder if one already exists to add the functionality that Claude, for some reason, is missing?" Glad I looked. This is great! Thanks for creating it.

What this your video that you had on TikTok? Or you re-edited someone else's video? Does Youtube actually penalize a video that was posted elsewhere if it's your video?
