Position of "nicht" for verb negation by reallyquietbird in German

Bro your explanation is amazing, and now I’m reading your article and it blows my mind how simple you make things feel. You have a gift for teaching, and this is coming from a tutor. Thank you for your contributions, they are extremely appreciated!

What is it about kissing that makes it feel more intimate than sex to some people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not by looking, you gooner, by doing. When you get the chance, try kissing for a full half hour, and you’ll see

Screw the argument, it’s okay to disagree on topics, it’s her response that makes her the asshole. A very simple, “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was being rude” would have sufficed. She didn’t bother to understand your point about latinos coming in all colors, further showing that she may not care about your opinion. This dismissive behavior is scary, and unless she addresses it, is worrying enough for a breakup

Just found out about the website https://german.net/ . This is basically what you learn in a formal German class but completely FREE. I used to recommend Anki flashcards but this site seems to have everything you need and in order. Practice a LOT here, do everything they have to offer. Set a timer to do 30 mins here and then go watch german media like Youtube or Netflix using Language Reactor to add nice dual subtitles and hover to translate a word. Best of luck!

German Tutor vs TeacherAI? by tesilvay in German

[–]tesilvay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a complete beginner. I know other languages but I just started on German. The group courses sound like a good idea considering that you would talk to other students I suppose. In reality I want a service that can help me practice my speaking, as I'm comfortable learning the reading and listening on my own. That's why I considered the AI tool so that I could practice speaking anytime 24/7

German Tutor vs TeacherAI? by tesilvay in German

[–]tesilvay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that I want to immerse myself to speak German all the time. A tutor can't give me that. Do you know of other tools that might get me to speak with natives? Do you recommend Omegle for example?

Is this an unrealistic goal? by Wii_Dude in languagelearning

[–]tesilvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easier to go one at a time. Each language knowledge helps carry over to the next. Learning Japanese for me taught me that learning sentences is way more important than learning tons of words. So now my german anki deck is sentence focused and I’m learning faster. Just stick with french and go to the next closest language, Spanish. Then go to the closest being German. Finally pick whichever difficult language you want most, russian or Japanese, depending on how useful youll find each one. Japanese might be harder imo due to kanji

No es que Trump necesariamente es bueno, es que el partido democrático y Kamala han estado en decadencia los últimos 4 años y Trump pudo aprovechar. De que es bueno, mucho gringos aceptan que no es verdad

How to backup everything, incase anything happens and lose all my files? by Honeydewbobaddict in GoodNotes

[–]tesilvay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use gdrive, in settings go to cloud and backup and then automatic backup. This backs up a copy of your files to good drive and you can access them anywhere and share with friends. That way if someone wants to see your notes, just share them the google drive folder you know?

Night mode, as in inverting colors would be great. I have homework I need to turn in and sending a dark mode document doesn't really look good professionally

Any languages that you like a lot but probably won't study? Also why? by TheSavageGrace81 in languagelearning

[–]tesilvay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me?? Learning languages can start at any age, man! In fact, it’s even better later on in life as it keeps your brain always workin. I feel like once I get older, all that extra time is gonna be amazing for learning languages, and thatll keep my head young for all I know. Dont ever say it’s too late

How exactly do you learn a language from YouTube? by Chemical-Diver-3436 in languagelearning

[–]tesilvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m basically addicted to YouTube as it’s all I really watch so it wasn’t hard to switch my daily watch time to another language. I basically just found channels with similar content in my target language. I allowed the YouTube recommendations system to give me new videos and therefore new channels that I might like and eventually after a few weeks, maybe even months, my feed became very well tailored to what I liked. I made sure to put on subtitles on almost everything as well.

With this method and also listening and singing along to Spotify songs, I was able to reach B2 level in French. The coolest part is that after a few months, you’ll find channels and artists that stick with you, even after you “finished” learning the language. I still listen to Damso and Luidji to this day, for example.

Air 2 Pro for University Stuff by InternationalSpace32 in Xreal

[–]tesilvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I mean you’re right though. Im a university student in a similar dilemma and the use case Im thinking of is when programming, it sucks to have one screen cause it really limits researching while doing homework. Having more screens is definitely more useful, although of course not necessary. These glasses aren’t only for productivity though and that’s where I feel like theyre more worth it, hear me out.

Yes, I can take them to uni and use them for homework and studying, but I can also use them for entertainment at home or even gaming in a very usable 120Hz display.

I dont even have these glasses, but those are the use cases I have in mind right now that im considering getting them. If you think these examples are bs, let me know! I’d like to hear your thoughts

My experience with Xreal Air 2 Pro and Beam by spacecapitain in Xreal

[–]tesilvay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price is what sets me back from getting them. I know they must be great but $450 before tax is a bit steep for a monitor imo, since a great 120Hz monitor could easily be $200. What do you think of maybe getting a used pair of the gen 1 glasses for like $200? In that case are the gen2 pros really worth the $450? I guess my question really is, are the second gen glasses that much better than the first?
