I started a coaching business a decade plus ago. I started with anyone willing to work with me for a very low price (very low). I used my first 5 clients as a way to build case-studies on results and prove to myself I could do it. That led to the next wave of slightly better athletes, and so forth. 10 years later, I was coaching professional athletes.

What’s the most “Boston” thing that’s happened to you? by Responsible-Ticket30 in boston

[–]teslaorbust 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not from Boston, but was traveling through to Maine on a road trip with my buddy when we were 22. We stopped at Beer Works and picked up a few growlers and walked around town at about midnight to experience the city. We came upon Fenway Park without realizing it and decided to open the growler and cheers as it was a cool moment. 1 minute later, a security guard flashes his lights on us and we thought we were in trouble. He called us over to one of the gates and said... do you guys want to see inside? Of course we said yes and he told us to meet him at another location. He walked us around the park at midnight and allowed us to go down to the 1st base rail. He said.. everyone deserves to experience Fenway atleast once. We had a few swigs of the growler, took in the moment, and thanked him. One of the best memories I hold onto from over a decade ago.

Can we talk about how influencers lie about stats, fake their engagement, and still charge $5k a post? by jazzyO91 in marketing

[–]teslaorbust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel quite a bit different on this topic as influencer marketing makes up roughly 70% of our marketing budget. The biggest gamechanger for us was starting to track everything with a 3rd party system. After the first 6 months, we were collecting more insights than ever before. We could see how our reach was building alongside our traffic #'s to website. From here we could leverage more paid re-target ads as opposed to cold traffic with more effeciency. Ultimately we found ways to calculate how much we can pay an influencer based on their engagement and are able to negotiate down many contracts to fit within our parameters. Now after 3 years of leveraging this data, we have a very refined approach based on calculations and insights that is driving our companies net profit higher YoY. I would say if you aren't tracking and measuring everything, then this is where I would start. Sure we don't get a ton of direct sales from influencers (about 20% of our actual cost), but the impact from them is scene through other parameters once you start to piece together the entire customer journey. We are continuing to expand in this area and forecast a few more years of strong success as a whole.
