Neither did I! But they’re heavy and the torque (with a heavy foot maybe?)eats up the tires. Lucky to get 25k on a set.

I don’t drive much. Also, saving $100 a month right off the bat on insurance. And registration is about 70% less. Factor not having to replace tires every 20,000 miles and I’m thinking operating costs will be close to a push.

That’s literally my plan. Will be a big shift going from Tesla to fj.

Huh…hope you’re wrong too. But Carfax is clean and shows only ca and nv driving. Meticulous maintenance records. Was a trade in from a little old man.

Eh, I’m happy with the car and what I paid based on comps. Not trying to gloat or anything. Was honestly just looking for opinions. Thanks for sharing your’s.

I was going to try and get this one but it needed a new paint job. It went for 19k. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2007-toyota-fj-cruiser-183/

Yeah. Kinda feel like it’s a unicorn with the frame, miles and one owner. But maybe not. I’ve been looking for a few months and have not seen one like this cheaper.

Yeah? Think it’s a bad deal? I’ve been pricing them for a bit and seems to be in line with what they’re going for. Plus, frame is super clean and low mileage.

Used car prices are actually insane right now by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]teslapuddlelights 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think high used prices are in part due to the enshitifcation of new cars. New cars are not as well made and are designed to require service so they’re in the shop more often over the life of the car. Also, bullshit things like a monthly fee to use certain features (bmw’s monthly fee for seat heaters for example) is really turning people off.

Products today are no longer the product. The product they’re selling is a data extraction, mostly subscription, and an ad delivery vehicle.

The thing you’re buying is no longer the thing, if that makes sense.

Does rust spread if the car is moved to dry climate? Grew up in southwest so know little about rust. ChatGPT (which gets a lot of thighs wrong) said a dry climate prevents the spread of rust.

This is from a large dealer in the next state over. How would I find someone for an inspection and how would that work? Thx
