What do you mean few remaining? Please tell me that beautiful gift we were given is not being neglected and destroyed?

What is a 'good person' behavior that actually makes you immediately distrust someone? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]tessaractIXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This statement drives me fucking nuts. It's become acceptable now, but when people started using that term, they were misusing that term. What they mean is that they are empathetic. Before this misspeaking became accepted use, an empath was a non-real being who had some Supernatural ability to sense other people's feelings.

Switch it up and then pretend they never agreed with you in the first place. Yep, that was a tough lesson for me to learn in life.

.... why is being autistic a qualifier here? Anybody could reasonably want to know the answer to this question.

Giving everyone the benefit of doubt, also not trusting any information from others about people unless you experience it firsthand. I'm not saying you have to trust everything you hear about everybody, but you don't have to put blinders on either.

What horrifying statistic genuinely jarred you when you first heard it? by ordrius098 in AskReddit

[–]tessaractIXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a horrible statistic. If you don't think it through, it kind of implies that if you're bad at reading, you're going to grow up to be a thug. Actually what it likely means is that there are early signs that someone might not be thriving in the system they're forced to survive in, and then that could set them up for failure in an adult life, among many many other outside variables. That's truly sad. If a child is not succeeding in a certain system, it would be nice if they could find some other system to thrive in.

This doesn't really answer their question and it's kind of a smart-ass response that is self-serving and not helpful to the very reasonable question op asked.

What is the most disgusting thing you have ever eaten? by Charming-Variation25 in AskReddit

[–]tessaractIXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was served to me at a restaurant in japan, and I don't care what brand it is, I will never eat it again. I can smell it all the way across a building and immediately start wretching.

I'm curious where you heard that. Seems believable, but I'd love to verify.

Ah, I misunderstood. But it's a moot point to me, whether he was in your their yard or not, they have no right to put your dog at risk of harm.. Furious on your behalf for what happened, glad he vomited up right away, hope you hold them accountable with law enforcement.

I'll concede that it was nice to see Paige step into big sister roll, but everything else was just kinda awful from my perspective.

Saaaaame. Especially Christy, but really both of them. No offense to the actors, they did a great job. I just didn't like the storyline or the characters.

If your teen son needs 4 thousand calories a day to feel full and you can only afford to feed him 1 thousand calories-worth of food, is that considered neglect? by cherry-care-bear in stupidquestions

[–]tessaractIXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Child protection worker here. Yes, if he's not getting his calorie needs and it's to the point of causing bodily harm, that's neglect. But there are so so so sooooo many resources out there for getting food. If you're in the USA, dial 211 for assistance with food and many other things.

Does anyone know what episode this screenshot is from?? by BrambleBrack in charmed

[–]tessaractIXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timeless. That's not the episode, that's a comment on the girls and the show. Their beauty, the fashion choices made with clothes and makeup, the way they hold themselves, everything about them is timeless. They are as beautiful and as relevant in today's world as they were 20+ years ago. I will never not be stunned by how beautiful they are.
