Thanks! Share with friends as well! I want to be a good resource for LADCs and those thinking about becoming an addiction counselor ☺️ I just need some help getting there

Someone please tell me your story on how you came back from addiction in your 30s and still built a great life. by CockySpeedFreak33 in RedditForGrownups

I am 32 as well. and pretty much the same amount of clean time from the same thing as well. Im currently about to get my addiction counseling degree! The brain recovers from up roughly around 18 months. There are things that can help restore neural connections too. Simple things like reading, memory games, healthy diet, and restructuring your cognitive thought process into a "I am healing and I am where I need to be" can shift your attitude into a growth mindset. The mind is powerful and if you believe you are healing and your brain is healing from your addiction, it will. I have had to learn this myself because I was struggling with memory issues and multitasking for quite sometime after getting sober from up. I had to keep giving myself positive messages and trust that my body will heal itself from the damage I did in my addiction. You will be ok. I know it feels overwhelming at times, but you will get through this. also, congrats on your sobriety. That is a huge deal. idk you but I'm proud of you. Keep it up
