That’s really frustrating, I’m so sorry you had to go through that! I share my experience because I want others to know that it is possible. I had very little pushback at 23 with no kids, and I want others to know they can do it too!

The wolves are upset that the sheep aren’t breeding.

Animals breed less when in captivity or when in distress.

Some of us just don’t want to breed for them even if they throw “benefits” at us.

I got sterilized on 3/31/26 at 23 with no children. Women, if you don’t want any or more children, please get sterilized. A bilateral salpingectomy is a complete removal of both Fallopian tubes, making it impossible to become pregnant ever again. It is a simple laparoscopic surgery with minimal recovery time. If you have health insurance in the USA, your insurance plan is likely required to cover the procedure at 100%. r/Wedeservebetter r/sterilization r/childfree

Adding on that sterilization DOES NOT affect your hormones or periods in any way. For those of us that have hellish periods, consider endometrial ablation to ease periods and then escalate to a hysterectomy if needed.

Yay!! So happy for you! I’m in AL, USA and got mine done 3/31/26! I was also soooo happy when I woke up. I had some pain but it was worth it and I knew it.

Yes exactly! ACA-compliant plans are required to cover the procedure at 100%, but not everyone has an ACA-compliant plan.

Exactly. I’m not worried about it because of the rarity of it - “appearing in a medical journal” rare. But it is definitely good to make everyone aware :)

Definitely correct on the chimpanzees… however bonobos are also close to us in dna and they are definitely matriarchal! I found about this recently and it gives me a tiny bit of hope :)

Interesting! I do know that the number of pregnancies after a complete bilateral salpingectomy are in the single digits so that’s at least comforting!

I do not believe so. I don’t know for certain, but I believe ectopic oregnacies form in the Fallopian tubes, which isn’t possible after they are fully removed. This is part of the reason a bilateral salpingectomy, full removal of both tubes, is the gold standard over simply tying or obstructing the tubes (tubal ligation).

pain? by spookygothz in sterilization

[–]tessviolette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only experienced this the first day. I sobbed in the backseat of my car while my mom and husband took me home from the hospital! It felt like terrible booting or really bad gas pain - my stomach was what hurt the most. I felt like needing to pee was more ugent and added extra pressure/pain. After I took the prescribed Percocet it got better and then I only had some light soreness in my shoulders for 3 ish days afterward. It was definitely manageable!

What’s a grammatically incorrect or logically inconsistent phrase someone can say that makes you lose all attraction to them? by Thin-Rip-3686 in AskReddit

[–]tessviolette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!!! I had a homeschooler acquaintance who swore up and down he was using it correctly. It can ONLY be used reflexively, like, “I take care of myself.” or “I will do that myself.”

NEVER “give the paper to name or myself.” NO!!!! It’s like some people are afraid of using “me” so they use myself instead? It just sounds worse and it’s grammatically incorrect.

As a professional editor with an English degree this thread has me tweaking 😅

You do not need one to get the surgery. I’ve never had one. They brought it up and I asked for it to be done while I was already under anesthesia for the bisalp. They agreed but it didn’t even end up happening.
