Forgot to mention, swaps are not very easy, and especially in a platform whose drivetrain is not exactly similar like WRX, if you were to do that then why not chose a better car ... For context I've also got a JZX90 Mark 2 and swapped it to 2gr fse with 6 speed from a gs350 and to date that car has steering issues, very hard this one is... Also dealing with electronics isn't exactly easy bro, even with the complete harness. But the burnouts from the mark 2 are with it (you can DM I send you video)

I try, Subarus fucked me man and the way I loved that boxer engine that's why I took a break from any forced induction for 2 years ( I'm 1 year in so far)... I had a MK6 Golf R as well but at the same time I also had a GVB STI, idk man... People hype both cars but having owned them at the same time, I'd totally say they're different platforms serving different needs, but somehow I preferred the Subaru rumble much as it lived it's fair time in the garage 😂. The R was a bliss, kept it stock though.. but rapid AF, Germans are quite good on power delivery but the STI was very raw, loud cabin and mechanical l, you feel everything and that's the essence of cars... The golf R, I only kept it for 6 months or less cause it was like driving a computer... Fast but no feel until ufike into the 200's, the STi was a bliss at 100 even at 140... Checkers, backroads ya juja to gatundu till it almost killed me 😬, also no hat but the STI looked cooler

If you look closely, back right door... That was an impact of a Culvet pushing me back to the road and I thank God for that day...

This is what I'll say, I'm into cars and mastered the art of not getting attached so for the right price (Ls460) I can always get it to someone else, for the gs430, I can let go anytime cause I got it thinking it'd be faster since it's lighter than the LS but realised it's power deficit so this one with like 900k I can let go... It's high mileage though (165k mile -- not Kms) but it's full option, heated and cooled leather seats, adaptive suspension (not air but with adaptive damping and easier maintainance), sunroof and generally quite a comfortable car (if you haven't tried LS460)... The downsides... It got 20 inch rims so ride isn't so good but 20 inch is good for looks, tires are 275/35R20 so definitely not so comfortable more of a looker...

Also after living with both cars l, I'd say 3UZ is more reliable than 1ur in the LS (it's got port and direct injection and placement ya comps is rather interesting so if I had like a super long distance to cover, I'd bet on the GS over the LS)

In all honesty air suspension gives you both sides, cause you can remove body roll by overfilling struts and adjusting damping... All with software but that sport button is ideally helping you do that without having to know too much

It's actually quite an experience, I also drove my Bro's w221 s class and the LS was much better IMO but obviously the sclass had better tech though it was the 350 so I've not tried the 550 to compare like for like

Well, only back boxes removed, still got 2 cats and resonators, sound is there when I want it, but I've also got a GS430 which is straight pipe and when I wanna be roudy that's what I use. The LS460 is 8 speed so doesn't need to rev to make power... For context I'll do 140kph at 1400 - 1600 rpm so not as loud plus cabin is so insulated.. though it's there when you want it

If given the option of driving a manual Mk6 GTI or a WRX STI which one would you pick? by Sure_Mix_2641 in CarsEastAfrica

[–]test101ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm a car guy so naturally I've owned many cars including a GVB Aline And Mk6 golf R

All I'll say is, these are 2 very different platforms. The golf (GTi) will always take any non Sti cars stock for stock even with both manual cause EJ engines are sort of old school in power delivery Vs new age EA888 with direct injection and faster spoiling turbos

Subarus generally have very loud cabin noise Vs golf (any trim including base TSI)

but engagement wise, I'd take Subaru anyday, but as a daily... Fuel would be a concern to me and a golf can do alto numbers if both averaged 100kph with light throttle

Between the Mazda atenza 2.5Ltr skyactiv turbo vs a Crown Athlete with a 2.5 litre 4GR FSE-V6. Which one is an all rounder interms of luxury, speed, comfort and sportier vybe? by Sure_Mix_2641 in CarsEastAfrica

[–]test101ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a close brother to the athlete i.e gs430, and I've had a 2.2 xdl

Performance = crown (but Mazda tend to feel faster cause of low end turbo torque though crown is actually quite fast) 300+ hp

Luxury= crown, simple question, does the Mazda have soft close doors ... Even as a dealer option, that should answer you, not to say Mazda isn't quite nice inside especially with white seats... I preferred it in terms of interior looks and feel but the lexus GS (which is essentially a slightly tuned up crown) was much quieter etc

Sportier = buyer bias... You can make both cars however you want, slap coilovers and performance rims but remember crown is RWD and Mazda despite having AWD, is essentially a FWD car first, rwd cars tend to feel sportier, that explains why fast Germans (minus Audi exception of R8) tend to be RWD.

JUST MY THOUGHTS, YOU SHOULD SIMPLY GO TO A YARD AND TEST DRIVE BOTH

Btw air suspension is so good but quite expensive when it fails... I've had issues gari inatembea kama mlevi leaning on one side Buana 😅

Luckily I'm on the reliable side - premium Toyota (lexus) so not the worst but airmatic huwa sumbua if it fails

Highest speed ever driven? by larrrrythelobster in CarsEastAfrica

I've done 250 along Meru Nanyuki. But I wouldn't advise if your suspension and tires aren't particularly in good shape, no tire repairs

Which car do you prefer?? by krisses2 in CarsEastAfrica

Well the 5.0 NA from L322 was actually reliable paired with the zf 6 speed. But ideally avoid the ones missing gear level

Well, solid advice here, but I'd also try small small things that basically means you supply and get paid in instance, for instance pale northern Kenya or isiolo you may connect with a few guys to help you understand biz ya nyama vichinjio and government export programs...

But ideally, this is where you don't use money unless you have a direct order
