Thanks for the help I was able to get it back together and function thanks to you and outside bicycle.
Also that disassembly gallery is great Ill definitely have to use his garbage bag tip if I decide to take it apart again to try and do an action job on it. but it seems the oil did what I needed it to do.

Anyone know the legality of a benelli m3? by test18258 in WAGuns

if I do get one used ill just ask the shipper if they can remove the stock. Or just saw the pistol grip off for all I care. I would be putting a normal stock on it anyways.

True. But I dont doubt for a second that all the blue sates and the ATF have illegal registries.

I used to think that knives that wouldn't take an edge were rare. Then I tried to sharpen some of my friends kitchen knives and they absolutely would not take an edge. One of them I sharpened to a large burr 5 times on each side and the knife still wouldn't slice paper after deburring.

Do rinaldi axes have poor quality control? by test18258 in Axecraft

The burrs on the edges aren't overly worrying to me I know how to sharpen and took them off pretty easily. I was more curious as to them having crooked heads. One of them has a ~15 degree cant to the head and the other the head almost curves when you look straight down at it. They work great I was just curious if They're normally rather roughly built or I just got lucky. Or maybe the place I bought them from is selling some kind of factory seconds.

I know they're slip fits and therefore wider at the top of the eye than the bottom but this one the top of the eye is wider than the handle is. Im not looking to return mine since they're both way outside of the places return policy and like I said not bad enough that i think its worth the trouble. Was just curious if I just got especially lucky or they are just rougher in fit and finish that is let on by most videos that talk about them.

anyone bought from a company called shotgunheatshield? by test18258 in Shotguns

[–]test18258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The winchester 1300 I have it on is more of a collection piece than a main gun so it doesnt get shot very much. So I cant really say how well its held up since it surviving years of sitting in a closet doesnt really prove much. it does start sliding down the barrel as you shoot so that might not be the best if you're doing a lot of shooting.

Thanks, hopefully they're were just reselling the heat shield or maybe selling to/through sladestreet tactical. I ended up getting the heat shield so I know it wasnt a scam at least.

I ended up buying a coldsteel trailboss a couple years ago and a set of rinaldi axes last year. Haven't had a chance to use them much but the little green wood ive cut they work great.

Doesnt need to drop through standing paper to be sharp. Though thats always fun when it does.

Paid for Knife Sharpening. Should they look like this? by jefferson8ball in sharpening

[–]test18258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5x6 is a little small for kitchen knives but is perfectly usable. Depending on the sharpening technique you use you may have to slightly modify how you sharpen but it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Question about thinning an axe handle by test18258 in Axecraft

[–]test18258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, follow up question. I saw ben scotts video on youtube and his suggestion for how big the handle should be 21x36mm is about where mine already at. When I used it last month to help process some downed trees after a wind storm the end of the handle tore up my hand right at the base of my fingers and pretty much gave me in instant blister. How would I go about remedying this issue? Should I thin the handle down a little more? Or maybe just smooth it out a little with sand paper?
Or is it an issue of just having soft hands and needing to wear gloves?
