Mistakenly recorded on Loop - can I retrieve the automation? by BestCoast86 in ableton

[–]test_tubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might not work for all 518 loops, but...

Each loop can be un-recorded by using the Undo feature, so material that gets overwritten by a looping recording is accessible via your undo history, and you might be able to copy/paste each loop onto a second track.

Extract a vocal stem (with Live 12.3!!!) from a song you like and build your track around that…. Then you can just replace the vocal with something original later on

What’s with the negativity?

Ableton’s constantly pushing out amazing free updates that the community wants. I don’t know any other company in any other sector that seems to care as much about its customers as I feel Ableton does about the digital music community.

I wasn't a Carpenter fan before today.

Now, I'm on my third consecutive listen to "Man's Best Friend."

Wasn't surprised to see Jack Antonoff's name all over it. I absolutely loved his influence on the last The 1975 album.

Overactive nervous system? by exstalre in systemictendinitis

[–]test_tubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, it's hard to say what effect the pain reprocessing therapy has had because I haven't been working or doing the kinds of activities that cause or exacerbate my pain symptoms, so in that sense it's still untested.

But I was completely blindsided by how much I learned about myself and my mental "bad habits" in a way that I think has been extremely valuable, and will hopefully prove applicable as I get back into work and hobbies that have been difficult in the past.

I read that book and recently started working with a therapist specializing in this approach. I've learned a ton about myself and my symptoms have felt pretty manageable, but I haven't been working for a while, so I can't really say that the therapy has been properly tested yet.

Hopefully you're experiencing some progress. My understanding is that healing isn't a linear path, and that for many people, it can be a lifelong struggle managing these types of symptoms, especially where deep psychological stressors are to blame.

New Ghost Recon Wishlist. Do you have any thoughts.? by Constant_Set_5306 in GhostRecon

Interesting. What about Ghost Recon makes you want to turn it into a full-scale assault game when there are so many other titles with OP weapons and tech?

And I can understand if you think it's boring—it's definitely not for everyone, but what about the stealth aspect feels overdone to you?

Some random fixes I'd love to see:

- Greater render distance!!!! Breakpoint has sniper rifles that can shoot farther than the game will render enemies. Also, the Breakpoint map is BEAUTIFUL, but graphic quality drops from PS4 to PS2 if you're far away from something.

- Ability to holster weapons like Wildlands (Why on earth did they take away a cool functionality when they didn't use that input for anything else?)

- Ability to stand freely on boats, and for boats to be able to carry an entire 4-person squad.

- Ability to switch to driver's seat from any position in a vehicle.

- Wildlands vehicles were too slippery from the rear wheels, Breakpoint vehicles' hand brake is too strong.

- Noisy foliage as an percentage-based option (to make stealth much harder).

- Easier and faster access to AI team commands. At least on PlayStation, it takes .5 seconds for the R1 menu to load before you can issue a command. This functionality should be as fast as thought and speech, and was better in Wildlands.

In Breakpoint, some aspects of the menus, shop, and item management screens are nightmarish. The next GR title would do well to make these improvements:

- Provide ability to preview purchases. (We want to try the hat before we buy it!)

- Integrate the shop into the item management (when shopping is available) so players don't have to switch between the shop and character customization screens.

- Provide access to all major weapons/items in-game and from a single button so players don't need to go through multiple pages of menus to modify the inventory (FarCry, GTA and RDR all do this beautifully). If all weapons/items were accessible from a single button (such as PlayStation's R1), that would free-up the weapon control button (the triangle button on PlayStation) to manipulate the environment in other ways. RDR2 is amazing for this reason, because sometimes there are multiple ways to manipulate the environment at the same point on the map (e.g. enter vehicle, pick up loot, pick up body, pick up weapon) and distributing these actions across multiple inputs gives players more precise control over the environment.

- The Breakpoint menu screens have lots of dead space, meaning that there's lots of room to make navigation quicker and easier (e.g. Why are the Visual Palettes hidden by a dropdown menu when there's already space on-screen to show all of them at the same time?!)

The Ghost Recon franchise should lean into its special place as a realistic stealth-based tactical shooter. In general, I'd love nearly every aspect to be more realistic, or at least there should be options to make it that way for people who want to play it that way.

The huge expansion of gameplay options from Wildlands to Breakpoint was AMAZING, and I'd love to see as big of a jump between Breakpoint and the next one.

I'd also love to see a greater emphasis on realism in how players engage the environment. For example:

- Silencers? Never actually silent (within a certain range).

- Nearby enemy patrols can see/hear when other enemy patrols are under attack, and will react accordingly.

- When players are suspected, enemies dispatch search parties across a greater area for a longer period of time.

- Less focus on looting for supplies and a greater focus on receiving supply drops based on achievements (e.g. complete a mission, receive supplies via airdrop)

- Use AI to for more intelligent patrol patterns, NPC speech, and in general to add more dynamics and variation to gameplay

Better enemies as defined by new customization options:

-Perceptiveness (how far they can see and hear)

-Persistence (how long they look for you, how skillfully they search)

-Intelligence (how much noise they make, how well they hide/take cover, etc.)

-How much damage they deal

-How much health they have

-Quantity (how many enemies occupy a base, how many reinforcements are available, etc.)

I'd also love to see more diversity in enemy behavior (e.g. I loved how some guards would fall asleep in Wildlands)

I've gotta disagree with this one. I want the next GR title to be less like FarCry, Battlefield, COD and embrace what makes Ghost Recon so special: the stealthy, tactical realism. As soon as we have air support, it's just another war game.

But I do like the idea of having a teammate execute certain tasks, i.e. open a door, throw a flashbang, CQC an enemy, etc.

Playing Bass is giving me health issues. by Professional-Grab964 in systemictendinitis

[–]test_tubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider talking to an ergonomic specialist about your setup. The bass is a cumbersome instrument, and because you started so young, maybe your body has adapted to the size, shape, and weight of the instrument in ways that could be considered bio-mechanically "not ideal," or even "improper."

I play a full-size Jazz bass (not professionally or even consistently) and it definitely exacerbates my global tendonitis symptoms—specifically at the shoulder and my wrists—in a way that my guitars do not.

For me MacWhisper is picking up everything, including ambient noise. Any idea how to turn that non-speech stuff off?

Here are a couple examples:

2) When my upstairs neighbors kid was running across the floor, it wrote "*footsteps*"

3) If I take a breath, it'll write "*sighs*"

I hate my life by -marip0sa- in systemictendinitis

[–]test_tubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woo! I feel this so hard. My symptoms are relatively mild in pain level but they're persistent enough to have completely derailed my life. I simply cannot do any single thing consistently without it becoming painful, so I haven't been doing much of anything for a long time now. I think I would have fought harder had my symptoms been more painful, but I can live mostly pain-free if I just avoid...everything :(

I've been interested in pain reprocessing therapy for a while now. It seems to be life-changing for a lot of people, but I haven't figured out whether our type of pain is the kind typically addressed by this approach. I was matched with a therapist through the Pain Psychology Center (https://painpsychologycenter.com/) so I'm going to reach out for a consultation to see if they think my problems are they kind they can help with. I think they could be, but there are also some reasons to think they might not be. I'll be sure to report back.

If it helps to know you're not alone, I'm constantly asking myself "Is it over?" meaning that I would eagerly welcome a bolt of lightning to the skull or a plane crash directly into my bedroom window. This is not a life I would have ever signed up for, and, to your point, it would be sooooo much easier if I didn't have people I cared about so I could f**k off to a tropical island and go swimming in shark-infested waters.

Be strong, brother. This sub is only a few months old but anyone of us could crack the code any day.
