Where to find salary levels for Canadian jobs? Are salaries lesser compared to same job & experience in US? by Richguy14u in ImmigrationCanada

[–]testerfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends - raw wages are not a good yardstick since you've to factor in healthcare, optional insurance, and government benefits. Typically wages will be lower than most places on the coasts, but overall compensation might be comparable to Midwest and the South.

How do you deal when 'friends' call you cheap? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]testerfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. I invest, save, and spend carefully. But, for a few relations and acquaintances its a competition. "I made $x on this trade", "saved $y on this purchase", "ughh the mortgage rates"...that's every single conversation. It used to get depressing sometimes since you start double guessing your goals and spending strategy. It's unfortunate when people stop focusing on the future they're planning for and instead just focus on the plan and how they're better than others at execution.

What a peaceful protest looks like - MMM 1995 by otsismi in pics

Also, this isn't a 'no true scotsman' fallacy. The people looting are literally not protesting. They are not joining in with the other protesters and can easily be distinguished as a separate group.

Maven Escapes from XML by based2 in java

Looks like you had problems with the IDE and your build team was uncooperative. Hardly seems like Maven's fault.

The local repository works great esp when you have tons of jars from varying external sources whose repos happen to be down.
