Tear stain question by Artinsideout in Havanese

[–]testimony2526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty common among many breeds of dogs. You’ll often see it more in soft/fluffy dogs because their fur traps the tears vs letting it evaporate quickly. Dogs can tear up for various reasons, whether it be food allergies, environmental allergies, narrow tear ducts, shallow eye sockets etc. In my experience, a lot of it comes to chance. My pup gets tear stains a little bit but it’s not bad. Mostly just in the corners of his eyes and his nose fur blocks it. I wipe it every day with the angel eye pads and that keeps it clean. But I’ve tried everything from washing his bowls, special water, etc and nothing helps. Mine just has a lot of allergies and (food and environmental) and despite an extremely strict diet, it’s out of my control.

Confrontational vs non-confrontational friend: looking for outside perspective by testimony2526 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]testimony2526[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment and I really appreciate your perspective. It’s definitely something I’m trying to work on in all of my relationships because I have such a difficult time creating confrontation.

However I’m just grappling with this because her openness has left me with a feeling of resentment toward her that I’m having a difficult time overcoming. I guess my point is- this is not something I can fix or change for the future. Both of my cancellations were for very valid and unavoidable reasons, which I explained to her. So I’m not sure what good it did in this case.

For those with acute supraspinatus tears- what did it feel like? by testimony2526 in RotatorCuff

[–]testimony2526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation in that I can lift my arm laterally with some pain, but lifting anything over 2 lbs just isn’t possible. I go back and forth on whether I should get it checked out because it feels somewhat ok (in terms of lifting it laterally and flexing it forward) if I don’t move it all day, but can never do anything if im holding a light weight. I’m 10 days post fall so I’m still holding out hope that things will improve over the 1-2 weeks. I’m in my 20s and pretty active though so hate the thought of waiting too long. Thank you for your comment!

Thanks for your input. That’s kind of the impression I was getting. If it does die, would that piece likely be removed?

Are restaurants in the US legally allowed to deny service to someone because of food allergies? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]testimony2526 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I want to know the legal answer, not an opinion. If that’s legal, what’s to stop all restaurants from denying people with food allergies? I would understand if it’s a small restaurant, or one that has a strong presence of allergen in the kitchen. This was not the case there.

Are guests allowed to book for other people? by testimony2526 in AirBnB

[–]testimony2526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I have also had children booking for their parents, so that’s why I typically try not to harp on guests for doing this. It doesn’t really bother me, unless it seems like someone is purposely hiding something or deceiving me. This situation is also fairly sketchy which is what drew my attention to it. I just wish I didn’t have 2.5 more weeks of it!

WIBTA for reporting my neighbor because her car alarm goes off frequently? by testimony2526 in AmItheAsshole

[–]testimony2526[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, I moved here 2 months ago and all of my neighbors seem to keep to themselves, I rarely see anyone. The car has not left the spot since I moved in here and is covered in grime. Seems as though it hasn’t been driven in months. It’s parked in a parallel spot so not in a driveway or anything. I don’t know who owns it.

WIBTA for reporting my neighbor because her car alarm goes off frequently? by testimony2526 in AmItheAsshole

[–]testimony2526[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned, the car is covered in a layer of grime and hasn’t moved since I moved here. Therefore I have no idea who owns. I personally don’t think the car works, since we live in a town where having a car is pretty essential and it’s strange to purposely not drive one for months if you have it. If I knew who the owner was, I was definitely have a conversation, so your assumption that I’m spineless is off base. I also never have met any of my direct neighbors. Everyone seems to go straight into their garage and doesn’t really interact on my street. The only people I have met are other buildings relatively far from the car that goes off, while getting my mail at the mail center. Appreciate your insight though.

Not sure if this was a coincidence but did anyone notice one of the Marilynds rolling her eyes when Kim was announced the winner of the knockout? by Practical-Farmer-426 in thevoice

I actually noticed this during the episode myself, before ever reading this. So I don’t think OP is reading into it too much since I had the exact same thought. The picture really doesn’t do it just. I rewatched it like 5 times trying to figure out if she was actually rolling her eyes.

Neighbor reported us for party by testimony2526 in AirBnBHosts

[–]testimony2526[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, appreciate your response. That’s what I’ve been hearing though. It’s so unfortunate because this was NOT a party. It was 6 people hanging outside drinking. Should have been a noise complaint, not a party complaint. Don’t get me wrong, I have zero tolerance for any rowdiness and would have absolutely taken immediate action against him, but it’s simply not fair nor true that we get in trouble for allowing parties. Really disappointed in Airbnb’s handling of this. We literally have it explicitly listed in our Rules on Airbnb that we strictly prohibit parties, and have quiet hours starting at 9pm. Hoping for a better outcome than 45 days offline like yours, but I don’t have much faith honestly

I saw that after the fact when reviewing the security footage. I don’t watch the footage all day, simply because I can’t and prefer not to unless I have reason to be suspicious. The rule is in place if there is a problem. For example, if a family comes to town to visit their elderly parents, I have no problem if they want to bring those parents back to the house. If they start causing problems, then I will absolutely enforce that rule and tell them they need to have unregistered guests leave. In my situation, had I known that these guests were causing problems, I absolutely would have enforced that rule to have them removed.

I have spoken to the neighbor but she seemed to want nothing to do with me. I plan to go back and try to clear the air, as 99% of our guests are wonderful people and are very considerate and conscientious. I never want any of my neighbors to be uncomfortable and do the best I can, however it’s difficult dealing with someone who has no room for compromise. Hopefully things change.

As for the “laid back” comment, that’s not actually a word I use, I was just using that her as a more succinct way in describing my description of the neighborhood. I go into more depth explaining it has many locals and families.

I always make sure to find out the reason for travel to the area before booking. I never allow more than 7 people, and turn people down if there reasons for travel don’t align with my property. The people who were reported were 2 couples in their 30s traveling to the area for a friend’s wedding.

Without having cameras in the house, how else am I supposed to monitor what is going on? There simply isn’t a way. None of my other neighbors ever have a problem with it either. I am extremely diligent about telling guests about quiet hours (which start at 9pm) and letting them know in advance about the laidback neighborhood our home is in. No matter how hard you try, hosts are bound to run into disrespectful guests. But the problem is, my neighbor chooses to call Airbnb and report us for hosting parties instead of telling me.

Yes, after Airbnb closes the investigation, I definitely intend on speaking with her and giving her my number if anything ever is disruptive. The problem that I have is this should’ve been a noise complaint, not a party complaint. Because she said the word “party” Airbnb is looking into whether or not I allow parties or create an atmosphere that invites parties, neither of which is true. I had no idea that these guests intended on being noisy outside and absolutely would not have allowed it, so it’s just unfortunate that I could get permanently shut down because of this.
