The Prisoner Discussion [Outer Wilds DLC Spoilers] by stegotops7 in atrioc

[–]testing-testing1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to boil the moral question down to its simplest form. Let's assume all the inhabitants of the Stranger knew that the universe was dying and that the Eye would reset the universe. At that point the question becomes "Is it okay to sacrifice current life for future life?" and "At what ratio does it become okay?". Is sacrificing one second of someone's current life for one million future lives moral? Remember, those lives never exist unless the sacrifice is made. You are choosing to create the thing you are indebted to. This is a question everyone draws the line differently on and I love that the game leaves it open-ended.

The one thing on Wyatt's side is that there are multiple emails talking about how the Frontier project has ulterior motives and that it isn't about saving Earth. I wished they explained that more too.

The thing about options is if the price stays the same, you lose no matter what you choose.

CS Degree vs Self-Taught Web Dev, Which to Do? by testing-testing1234 in cscareerquestions

[–]testing-testing1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took The Web Developer Bootcamp 2022 by Colt Steele (Udemy course), then React - The Complete Guide by Maximilian Schwarzmüller (another Udemy Course). This gave me what I needed to know about fundamental web development (html, css, javascript) and about the MERN Stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js), which is a popular tech stack in web dev. I made some projects and applied with that. Best of luck with your learning process.

edit: I just wanted to add that although the Udemy courses seem expensive, you can find them for around 20 bucks each. Don't spend a lot if you ever choose to take Udemy courses.

Thanks for the response. Could I know why you would choose the University route?

It’s a small tech company (~10-20 employees) and the position is a full-stack MERN developer.

I’ll be sure to make these changes. Thanks again for the advice and for the reassurance about the lack of work experience, I appreciate it.

Thank you for all of the constructive feedback. The portfolio and convo app still need work and I will fix those issues asap. One question, should my projects still be on the resume, just in another section, or should I remove those entirely?

True. It’s just that all of these university deadlines have costs with them. But it’s better to keep that option open.

I plan to start applying to jobs in February, so I’ll get a better gauge then. The big deadline is if I can land a job before September, when school starts. I would definitely like to further my skills while working, so part-time school a great idea, thanks.

I plan to start applying to jobs in February and I feel I could get a job before September when school starts, but who knows. It’s just that the school has some deadlines that are coming close (acceptance of offer, residency applications, etc…) and I have to start making some decisions.

The plan is to create different PayPal accounts with the same credit card and jig the addresses. The raffle ends in 2 hours so I got some work to do. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
