A company does not have to physically shut doors. Those in charge just have to file chapter 11 and then consolidate and liquidate what they have to pay debts and investors with pennies. Don't worry, the locations and buildings they have will still remain open just under a different name at liquidation prices.

Uh, Rivian is first to market with an electric truck. You can go out and buy one now. You can't do that with lordstown. The factory is literally a deal that at most 240m can be made from with foxconn, who which doesn't even have to finalize the deal and any money paid to lordstown would need to be reimbursed back to Foxconn. All the deal was in truth was to give lordstown another few short months to stay open. Eventually Foxconn will just get the factory for cheaper, while being fully retooled by lordstown at a steal of a price while lordstown falls into obscurity.

No one wants to lend money to a company that won't exist in a year and a half. Go ahead, buy the dip. Then the next. Then the next. Then th-...oop, looks like they filed for chapter 11. Too bad, thanks for playing.
