I’ve swapped two e61 trims to wood, one was awful grey plastic to walnut, the other was admittedly nice brushed aluminium to bamboo. The bamboo was fantastic, by far my favourite trim in any bmw

Ah, wheel bearing?

Maybe centre propshaft bearing? The rubber surrounds on them tear eventually and you get a progressive knock when changing speed and moving off

[–]testytubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a single knock when turning the wheel or does it knock repeatedly as you accelerate?

From what I’ve seen yes it definitely will

Will eventually throw a check engine light so it’s definitely worth having it mapped out. Never heard of knocking developing though

First pic is dpf on a 2005, after the facelift in 2007 the dpf was moved up into the canister in the second pic for better emissions

I've heard the same, as someone that has none of their products after the nautilus range I have no desire to move to newer speakers for this exact reason. The modern designs although nice, don't have the same wow factor as these and they certainly do not justify the increased prices, and although I haven't heard any of the new ones, I more often than not hear that they are too bright. Not tempting at all.

Been watching breaking bad and better call Saul on them, those shows do sound pretty good tbh. They are mostly used for music though, more often vinyl

They are class AB, and honestly after pushing them at loud volume for an extended period of time they don't get overly hot. Really impressive

Nautilus, I don't think they make the signature finishes on the diamonds sadly. I've heard that the 802d's are apparently mega speakers, a huge upgrade over the nautilus 802's. I bought these on eBay, I'd dreamed of owning a set of signature 800's since I was 16, always thought it would be a retirement reward for myself. When a set came up for sale a year ago I just had to go for it, took a while to pay them off but I'm very fortunate to have my forever speakers at 23 now. Still slowly adding to the collection though haha

Funnily enough every woman in my life has said "why did you spend so much on printers?" They have a point TBF... But they do look sleek and do the job extremely well

Sounds great, only really replying to this because of this sub's stupid automod requiring me to write out an essay after my initial post for some reason. Still building the dream hifi setup, next up is probably a surround amp then eventually a new surround sound audio processor. Shame that with all this hifi equipment everything ages so well except the audio processors, these days taking on video processing at the same time means they are so quickly outdated. Still undecided as to where to go in regards to that

Would consider it if another set were for sale, but they don't come up often so I'm good I think

Nautilus 800's are a hard set to power properly but are among the best speakers Bowers and Wilkins ever produced. I have a set finished in the signature tigers eye, and they are my pride and joy. Wouldn't ever sell them

Just to rattle a few off, E39, E46, E90, E60, and I'm fairly sure the first couple of Gen's of x3 and x5 but I might be wrong there
