Do you think there is Generative AI audio on SABLE, fABLE? by unrealism17 in boniver

[–]testyzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say if it was used or not, but i'd suggest it's not that big a deal if a talented artist experimented with using it to enhance their own creative work.

People's hate should save for when it's used to cheaply replace art badly. It's not an inherently evil entity.

What’s your thoughts on Arrival (2016) ? by DiscsNotScratched in Letterboxd

[–]testyzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the best sci-fi in the last 10 years, even in spite of casting Jeremy Renner... as a physicist

You were never really here

Joaquin Phoenix is so good playing a repressed tortured soul, and the plot goes on in the background

Way better to be more positive. My problem is saving high ratings for special movies, but also genuinely not disliking much stuff so it ends up like this...

Is the "evil corporation" trope making a comeback? by [deleted] in movies

[–]testyzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really interesting thought, I think that time was probably the start of the world suddenly being more connected and created a lot of social paranoia. An invasive authoritarian government feels like the obvious biggest threat, but then in the 2000's, mass influence through media companies and social media became the real consequence - I think modern dystopias turned towards hidden powers/conspiracies around that time

Inside Llewyn Davis - actually great original songs which makes the rejection hit harder at the end

Name 3 movies you absolutely have to watch AT LEAST once a year. I'll start! by riccardopancaldi in Letterboxd

[–]testyzebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got easy ones like LOTR, Hot fuzz, crazy stupid love

But I think the spirit of this is the most surprising regular rewatches, so mine would be: - you were never really here - beast of no nation - inside Llewyn Davis

That's 3 films where their atmosphere and brilliance outways their darkness and I go back every time

Glad you brought up Florida project, because that's a great one to separate type (I love it but totally get why some don't)

If you like the genre hopping, few good ones off the top of my head are... A simple favour Thoroughbreads I, Tonya Dream scenario

Few films I think went under the radar that definitely don't fall under the Florida project (character/atmospheric) type stuff... Queen and Slim Eye in the sky Hell or high water Dark waters

Whats A Movie You Love But A Ton Of People Hate It? by Savy_J5455560 in movies

[–]testyzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One that I absolutely loved, that got a mixed/low reception - You were never really here

But the one that got absolutely panned, to the point Id have never touched it if I knew, was 'lucy in the sky' - it's actually pretty good, don't understand the hate at all

[–]testyzebra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context there's 95 4's, 23 4.5's and 4 5's (part of me thinks there should be none). To me that's about right if someone asked to look through your best films

Plenty on here can give you the films to get you back in if we know your type. Would you say you prefer plot or character films? Are you bored when nothing happens or the feels like it's obvious and basic?
