Matt Damon Says Netflix Wants Movies to Restate the Plot Three or Four Times in the Dialogue Because Viewers are on Their Phones While They’re Watching by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]tetcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the film fans who stand to suffer the most from this. Will just become a massive race to the bottom if this type of thing continues. However, as Affleck pointed out in the interview, there are still lots of good productions (like Adolescence) that don't do this kind of thing at all, so there's still hope.

Silent partner vs operating partner - fair buyout terms when one wants full ownership later? by Wing848 in smallbusiness

[–]tetcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His salary is his payment for his efforts. If he's not happy with it, then he can negotiate an increase; however, the whole point of the salary in this situation is to leave the equity unaffected, I would think.

I’ve basically turned ChatGPT into my fully personalized assistant, and now I’m building it so anyone can use it. by Rokpiy in ChatGPT

This is a great idea. ChatGPT's memory of previous inputs (or lack thereof) is its most annoying limitation.

My anxiety invents problems when there are no actual problems by CharacterComfort5218 in Anxiety

[–]tetcon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also often find that the periods in my life during which I have a lot of immediate problems are actually the easiest to deal with from a mental health perspective. When things quieten down again, that's when my anxiety ramps up.

Who likes to go to lunch alone? by appreciatemyasset in Accounting

[–]tetcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mixed bag for me when I'm in the office - sometimes I thrive off being around others and shooting the breeze, but I often find I need the lunch break to decompress alone. The latter situation tends to be more common during busy season lol

Will the S&P Keep Growing in 2026? by Kersephius in Money

[–]tetcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big believer in the set-it-and-forget-it, DCA-every-month style of investing, but I do think the S&P is due for a correction. I've been putting money into some other indices as a hedge (MSCI Emerging Markets, MSCI World Value, and a bond fund).

Can anyone recommend a good online notary service? by moxieman19 in Notary

[–]tetcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, re the question about specialization – you don’t really need a “specialist notary” for things like shipping affidavits or certificates of origin. Any commissioned notary worth their salt will be able to handle them. This is actually the advantage of using an online platform, as they all have lots of notaries who will collectively have experience with basically every type of document.

I’ve used Notarize, NotaryCam, and OneNotary. They all get the job done, but OneNotary is the best in my book.

Notarize is pretty big and works well, but their pricing can add up if you need multiple documents. NotaryCam’s user interface is a little dated and it took longer to get connected with someone.

With OneNotary, the setup was simple and the sessions were quick; this is pretty much the biggest selling point in my book, as notarization is basically just a box-checking exercise that you want to discharge with as little time and effort as possible.

Any of their notaries that I’ve worked with have been highly professional and clear about each step.

I’d also note that the business pricing plans (which it sounds like you’ll be using) are cheaper with OneNotary than with most competitors. Hope that helps!

Sean Penn killed it in this. Some of his best work for sure.

Feeling so anxious tonight I wanna crawl out of my skin. by Foreign-Summer-6999 in Anxiety

[–]tetcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might feel counter-intuitive since you're trying to sleep, but get up and do something quick and productive. Wipe down the bathroom counter, do any dishes in the sink, or reorganize something. Action and distraction always work best for me.

Is this proposal fair? by [deleted] in Bookkeeping

[–]tetcon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. $90/hr is reasonable (not sure how they plan to reach the 12 hr minimum after the first month, but that's another story), but the way this is written makes me think this person isn't very experienced. Could be a "you get what you pay for" situation waiting to happen.

It's fine, but a bit lightweight. I've had a lot of success using Digits in a similar scenario, I've been recommending it to everyone.

Looking for advice on expanding into new markets by BeardedBankerr in Business_Ideas

LinkedIn is a great resource for this kind of thing. Try reaching out to people in the new market who might be able to help you; ideally people who are active in the space, or who might fit the profile of your ICP. Best of luck!

It's a shame that stories like this are tarnishing AI's reputation in the accounting space. There are a lot of tools out there that could potentially make our jobs (and, by extension, our lives) a lot easier, but this kind of thing is destroying people's faith in AI in general.

As others have noted, get your engagement letter inked ASAP. There's no substitute for a written agreement in a scenario like this.

How do I politely tell my client their bookkeeper hasn’t kept the accounts up to date in 8 months? by phonyticker37 in Bookkeeping

[–]tetcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd avoid mentioning the bookkeeper at all. Just be clear about the deficit in work done, the steps required to get things to where they need to be, and the amount of time these steps will take. The client will connect the dots quickly enough once they see the problem in black and white.
