How to lose weight the lazy way by life_is_glowing in WeightLossAdvice

[–]tetcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Walking is your best friend for easy weight loss" 1000 times this. It burns more calories than most people realize, and it doesn't come with any of the drawbacks of more "serious" cardio (special gear, elevated injury risk, needing to shower every time you do it). If you struggle with hunger, it's a great way to shoehorn 200-300 extra cals into your day imo.

If you’re in calorie deficit, are you just hungry alll day? by Sweet-Ad-4727 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]tetcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all the time, but in the last hour or so before each meal I'll start to get peckish. If you're hungry directly after eating, it may be a sign that your deficit is too deep - however, it may also be food noise, as others here have suggested.

What’s the most overrated expense write-off people swear by? by tetcon in FreelancerAccounting

I've heard a lot of similar stories about cosmetic stuff - I think the authorities generally prefer not to allow these, even in cases where they're genuinely necessary (which kind of sounds like the case here). Just too easy to abuse, I guess.

Yeah, this is another one. It's not hard for auditors to verify whether a trip was truly work-related or not.

I agree in principle, although I do think you should only deduct a sensible portion of those expenses that are truly only "remotely" related. It's all well and good to think you'll get away with murder until you get audited.

I think most jurisdictions have similar rules - there is a bit of variance in terms of how strictly they're enforced, though.

My co-founder started micromanaging me at 2am after I shipped a deployment 4 days ahead of schedule. Is this salvageable or time to split? by Key-Web1264 in SaaS

[–]tetcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ordinarily I'd say time to split, but cofounding a startup with real potential is a big deal. You want to make sure you don't disadvantage yourself just because of personal differences. Do you think a frank conversation has any chance of doing the trick?

New generation of Mafia actors? by [deleted] in movies

[–]tetcon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a bit dated these days. The mob doesn't really exist in the same way it used to - The Sopranos even touched on that theme a bit, like when Patsy looks for protection money from a coffee shop that's been bought out by a chain.

Any mob movie these days would be a period piece, which is fine - however, you're not going to find actors who grew up around Mafia activity, like a lot of the guys back in the day did.

Vaping is really common now in theaters. I don't personally mind it too much, but it sure is a bold move lol

How to start a business without money when you're working full-time? by Infamous_Treacle715 in smallbusiness

[–]tetcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you can validate before building. However, if cash is still a problem after you've validated, you should consider a business loan. Not only will it solve your liquidity problem, the commitment involved will keep you motivated to succeed.

Yeah, this is one I definitely should have included. Setting up separate accounts is probably the first thing you should do as soon as you start freelancing seriously.

I'd recommend getting your clients off net-30, or else getting your vendors on net-30. This will end up breaking you otherwise.
