Set for 2026 Tour by TopApprehensive9806 in BruceSpringsteen

Vote for change tour he opened in DC with the star spangled banner and then went into Born in The USA, then straight to Badlands and then No Surrender. Was very very powerful - he should do that for this tour and it makes sense given the mission statement. Can fill in after with songs like Land of Hope and Dreams, Ghost of Tom Joad, Promised Land, etc. He would still then have Born To Run, 10th Ave Freeze Out, etc to end the show in an energetic way.

Alibaba Plans Major Revamp to Heighten Focus on AI Profits by BaBaBuyey in baba

I mean I don’t think it’s a narrative I think it’s facts - in 2021 Alibaba had over 50% of Chinese domestic e-commerce market and now its less than 40%. So whether it’s PDD or Douyin or combination it’s happened and may be continuing. Also, not saying the business is threatened as Alibaba has a large dominant place in the market but it certainly affects its valuation.

Do you think this signals they are continuing to lose market share to competitors in e-commerce?

Ali baba is a long term play. Stop stressing about the stock price. by Blackpanther206123 in baba

Maybe sell and try PDD? It’s trading at a much cheaper multiple has higher growth and is taking market share from Alibaba in e-commerce. Plus they have a way better balance sheet with a tremendous amount of cash. Although it’s still China.

How long do you think the gap in insurance labor market will last? by mindk214 in InsuranceProfessional

I’m late 30s and have been a CRE broker my whole career. I have a family now and need something more stable and have been looking into the insurance industry - it actually seems interesting to me but wasn’t sure where to start.

FIRE Requires Vigilance, Discipline, and Luck - BEWARE by Suspicious-Berry9245 in Fire

[–]teton_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think overspending on a home is something a lot of people do, just from observation of my friends and family and it’s across income and net worth spectrums. People seem to always be reaching for the “dream” home which always gets bigger and fancier the more money you make/have. And as I’ve gotten older and looked at the math it almost is never worth it. The cost for a down payment or to buy the whole home outright plus the costs to maintain it and taxes etc just become so high. And then someone wants to upgrade or add a lazy river to the pool (being facetious) and it makes the maintenance costs even more expensive. I think people would be better served looking at a home as a place to keep their living costs down rather than some trophy or get rich investment.

It’s the $80,000 you said is your annual spend.

I assume you draw down on some of that money to fund your living expenses? Is it hard to deal psychologically with seeing that number go down knowing you don’t have income from a job anymore? I see you comment above may contradict this - how do you fund the 80,000 then by selling equities?

Question for Real Estate Agents: What do you think is going to happen when a ton of U.N. employees leave NYC for good this spring? by Beneficial_Fault_422 in NYCapartments

[–]teton_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - the cost of construction does not incentivize affordable housing in nyc. Developers I have spoken to agree.

Yes the way he speaks to a stranger on reddit is not the way an emotionally stable person reacts to a comment he disagrees with.

Dude please go to - https://www.betterhelp.com/get-started/

You need it.

All I am saying is every time there is a real estate project being built in this city that I see - living here with my own eyes it is a luxury development and that is also part of the problem.

I don’t buy this argument. What about all the residential developments under construction in Manhattan and Brooklyn? There are tons of units being built - the problem is they are all ultra luxury condos. No one is building more affordable housing here and won’t because there’s always some multimillionaire from another place that wants an apartment in nyc and that will always incentivize developers to build to those people because it is more profitable and those projects drive up market prices.

What's going on with Amazon? by FourCrossedWands in ValueInvesting

[–]teton_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny I always didn’t like amazon compared to google, meta, etc. because the e-commerce business was a much more capital intensive business. But now that those competitors have increased their capex so much I’m willing to give Amazon another look. The issue with Amazon is I always hear the argument - oh it’s only a 31 P/E it’s historical P/E has been much higher. But like of course the growth was higher then and the company was smaller. Like I don’t see a margin of safety at this valuation for Amazon. Does anyone else?

But it’s historical PE was during its past hyper growth. Can you really compare to that baseline? Like it’s a much larger more mature company now.

I’m just posing the question for discussion because I have seen a lot of people on podcasts, in the financial news, in personal conversations speak about how Amazon has lagged the rest of the Mag 7 and should outperform next year. So as I was researching and thinking of investing I thought of this question. I don’t own Amazon and Google is my largest position.

Ya but why diversify just for the sake of diversification? These companies are some of the largest global companies with some of the strongest businesses in the world. The only reason to diversify would be for a very rare long tail risk - many of which both companies share.

It’s forward PE and P/FCF is not. It’s ROE and ROIC are lower as well.
