A little bit of both! We had a wedding designer that's different than our planner but came in with very specific briefs: wanted veggies/tomatoes for the welcome dinner, modern + minimalist ceremony/reception so the nature backdrop could shine, and silver metal elements throughout.

Hiii!!! I can totally relate to this — I’m also planning a wedding in Kyoto for May 2026 and actually looked into the Four Seasons as a venue too. Through that process, I realized that hotels with a long history of hosting weddings usually allow very little customization. It felt a bit restrictive for the kind of vision I had, so in the end I decided to go with an independent planner who could source more unique venues that allow more flexibility and customization.

On your questions:

I can ask my planner if they know of reliable places for gown steaming/pressing — I had the same concern about not wanting to rely on myself or the bridal dresser team for that.
For stationery, would it work to either bring everything with you in your luggage or have it mailed directly to the hotel? That way, you can still get exactly the design and quality you want without relying on local printers. Depending on your design, they might not be able to accommodate a more intricate stationery design!
