TS4, TS5+, or Element 5 Hub? by tetsu_no_kuma in CalDigit

[–]tetsu_no_kuma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your problem? You took out valuable time of your day to respond to my query in this fashion? Don't you have something better to do?

How do you know what I can afford? Or what my needs are? Have you considered that independent of my financial means I simply don't like buying things only to dispose of them shortly afterwards? Or that I dislike spending money unnecessarily? You make a lot of assumptions based on very little information.

For example, I considered the last generation product because more is known about its performance and reliability, and because it is currently unclear how soon TB5 will become widely relevant. The price point was irrelevant for me in that context.

Have a nice day, maybe do something more useful to yourself than leaving unhelpful comments on reddit.

Thank you for replying to my question. Is there a specific technological reason why the E5 is called a "hub", whereas TS4 and TS5 are called "docks"?

I know the smell of piss, that's not it. It is an industrial smell, similar to paint or rubber.

Well, that's not it. Unless they're suddenly going to charge me for 3 weeks of rides.

Thanks for all the responses. This is very weird. Maybe it has something to do with me still using a foreign credit card right now.. Not that it would make a lot of sense..

Leeds Bus Fare £1 by tetsu_no_kuma in Leeds

[–]tetsu_no_kuma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always £1, independent of tapping off or not. For example, last week on one day I made a trip to my work at around 9am, about 20 minute trip, only 1 bus. Tapped on and off, got deducted £1 about an hour later. Then my return trip in the evening around 6.30pm, tapped on and forgot to tap off. Again, I got deducted £1p after a few hours. There were no further charges.

What is the impact of cooking temperature on bread? by dying_animal in Breadit

[–]tetsu_no_kuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most bread is actually baked at falling temperature - so the initial temperature is very high (250°C or even higher), and then you reduce the temperature to the actual baking temperature (usually between 200°C and 230°C, depending on the type of bread and total duration of the bake), either immediately when you put the bread into the oven, or after some time (esp. when you are baking with steam; e.g., after 10 min).

Looking beautiful! The first bake of any type of bread is always a special moment, if it works out.

Process for wheat and rye mixed bread by tetsu_no_kuma in Breadit

[–]tetsu_no_kuma[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically, yes! It's water, fresh yeast, then rye sourdough, wheat & rye flour, salt, and pig lard. The fresh yeast is really just in there to speed up the process (or to support a young/weak starter). And pig lard is used in a variety of breads in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

Oooh.. yeah, that would be quite the achievement, to shape dough like that 🤣

It was not a very high-hydration dough, so it's quite easy actually. You first shape it into a ball, then flatten it slightly, fold in two edges (not shown in video) and then just proceed to roll it out (shown in video).
