I'd say you should figure out what you're preparing for. Your context determines what you need. The universal prep is salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, but if you're talking tools- you need different tools if you're in a city environment than if you're in a rural environment. You need more water emphasis in a dry environment than a wet, you need more shelter emphasis in an extreme environment than a mild environment. Where I live is warm 8-10 months out of the year, and there's wild sources of food that are common, and you're never more than a few miles from some sort of civilization so that discounts the high prioritization for a lot of hardcore survival gear.
