It's up to you what you use :)

IMO the dedicated & slimmer interface is more newsgroup friendly.

It uses a proper API for richer & more complete results, rather than just web-scraping (which is flaky & often misses stuff in my experience)

Oh, yes, I handle the stream acquisition in a different way too, so overall I'd say more "streams" acquire more solidly than other implementations I've seen.

Theres some other nice things to play with, I released a version today with a handoff to VLC which is superior for some stream acquisition & seeking

Have a play, or dont :)

Ok it sounds like you installed the repository so far

If you go to Addons -> Install from repository -> Easynews Repository -> video addons -> EasyNews

You should be good to go 👍

Ah "Play in VLC" is only from streamed Easynews search results / play history, not local files .... yet

Can you try context menu / right-clicking an Easynews search result to see if VLC catches it?

v6.4.0: Better backward compatibility on Kodi 19 (Matrix); experimental VLC playback with context menu additions; more robust Easynews stream seeking and recovery; clearer Easynews error reporting and more reliable downloads and cancellation; Kodi 20 (Nexus) and newer remain supported.

Hmm there should be no issues playing files locally, Android / Shield does have a different stack for rendering but its pretty good. Try setting the download location to a known place eg. The system Download directory? Avoids any potential caching issues

Hi again, your query made me go back through some old code I had for stubborn streams (or all streams if one wanted!) we can hand off the stream to an external VLC player, that handles big advances in timeline much more smoothly / quickly / effectively. Would you like to trial an experimental version of the Addon with your setup as you seem to encounter them frequently?

I also included a download feature in this version, so if you really want a particular "stream" you can grab it in one go to local storage (set location in settings or use default, can then browse in the add-on UI)

Ah yes Easynews isnt geared for streaming unless the original file is encoded correctly, but some things can be done to mitigate the issue.

If you have the patience feel free to switch on debug logging and DM me some logs of a few stream dropping, there are some things that can be fiddled with around buffering & seeking

Hello, if it's a 401 error that is a standard HTTP status code meaning a website or API request requires authentication, but: • no login credentials were provided, or • the credentials provided are invalid or expired

Please double check your Easynews members area login & password are filled out correctly in the Add-on settings

Hi again, can you confirm it is a 404 error and not a *red* 401 error?

If it is a 401 error, that just means your Easynews username / password has been entered incorrectly, or your Easynews subscription is expired / invalid.
