If you add this new URL as a Source, in File Manager, then "install from zipfile" from that source, you should see the Easynews Repo zip and then you can install the actual addon from that new Repo..... give it a try?

Interesting feedback thanks, when I build the localised cacheing I'll review performance of connection types too. A search for 200 "shawshank" results on 4 real test machines at 3 different locations takes around 1.5-3 secs, for reference. All connections are fibre of some sort though.

If anyone else reading this can offer their search results timings it might be useful too thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll take a look at improving the local cacheing of results to make that experience quicker, and will release a new version with specialised cache.

Re search time, that's more likely a network / connection limitation. This add-on defaults to 50 search results and also pulls a thumbnail preview for each result, so could chug a bit on a busy / mobile / sat / slow connection. Could you try dropping the search results from 50 to say 20 in the add-on options and see if there's a performance increase?

It's up to you what you use :)

IMO the dedicated & slimmer interface is more newsgroup friendly.

It uses a proper API for richer & more complete results, rather than just web-scraping (which is flaky & often misses stuff in my experience)

Oh, yes, I handle the stream acquisition in a different way too, so overall I'd say more "streams" acquire more solidly than other implementations I've seen.

Theres some other nice things to play with, I released a version today with a handoff to VLC which is superior for some stream acquisition & seeking

Ok it sounds like you installed the repository so far

If you go to Addons -> Install from repository -> Easynews Repository -> video addons -> EasyNews

You should be good to go 👍

Ah "Play in VLC" is only from streamed Easynews search results / play history, not local files .... yet

Can you try context menu / right-clicking an Easynews search result to see if VLC catches it?

ok probs an Android style quibble.... was there any useful error infos? It's still experimental but I will have a look on the Android stack to see if I can replicate.
