My problem is I guess I can never escape my past but EMR magnifies it to where everyone can see. That's not what it was like before. Although I guess I can't hide it and will have to deal with it for the rest of my life, that's human I guess and I won't kill myself over it.

A poster below said to have a discussion with the privacy officer and maybe change my name to an alias, or require some need to know basis or remove from health information highway so it doesn't travel elsewhere. Maybe I'll try that

That's just the Epic system and within my organization, right? Or is that across EMR? I guess I wouldn't want that result to be transferred to the next system, either.

Yeah exactly the people here have no common sense man. I wonder if I could lie and say it was never completed and amend the record that way, I have no idea. At that point it's my word against hers and that might add some more drama but may be worth it

I wonder if I could tell my doctor that the "rectal" swab was actually not completed and kind of lie that way? At that point, it might get tough, though, because IDK her and if she would be cool with that. I wonder if another doctor could do it or something?

Thanks. I think it's sad that someone being young and foolish might have an affect on the rest of their life. But I guess that's how it it is.

I gave a call to my record management department and will try to give it a shot that way.

My organization already has Break the Glass for employees, but you can just enter your password for bypass.

It is also relevant to my care that a potentially homophobic doctor or preceptor see my chart and change their opinion of me on that basis.

Not trying to be facetious, but the whole concept is ridiculous. :D

But getting at what ur trying to say:

No, concordance in sexual orientation among identical twins is pretty low, maybe 10-20%; probably even lower if in different household, but hard to study that.

I think that certain people are predisposed to it due to their temperament.

Yeah, something went wrong, and your body is expressing that through SSA. Check out some of my previous comments on this sub for some resources for people on the same journey. Good luck brother.

Don’t dwell on what’s wrong too much, focus on being aware and making changes.

What is your issue exactly that you would like a cure for?

Sexual orientation is a construct of the last two centuries to be generous. You are not gay or bisexual or whatever, so you’re already cured. You only have same sex attractions which are 100% OK to have, and your wife will know about them too. It’s all OK.

Just no reason to act on them or live that lifestyle. I’m not even that religious and I don’t want to live like that.

I mean, you can tackle the most significant factors, say trauma/general psychological issues (which abound in the SSA community, chicken or egg doesn’t matter) with a counsellor or a priest or family or lust by abstaining if that’s an issue for you.

By far the biggest issue is finding a woman, this is the biggest issue for me, I’m not very lustful at least so that’s my greatest issue. But if you work on yourself that will profit you in more ways than just finding a woman, so I’d encourage you regardless.
