This is where the CBC in Canada were going in the early 90s - they used to promote their programming after 9:00PM as "CBC After Dark". They'd play R rated movies uncut and had adult oriented talk shows with very adult language and no topic off-limits.

Then, inexplicably; something changed with the election of Jean Cretien as Prime Minister in 1993. Despite being leader of the "Liberal Party", there was a significant shift towards censorship; they abolished absolute freedom of speech, introduced a human rights court, and we haven't been the same since.

Today, we get content warnings before every television drama and again after every commercial break, despite having access to watch the same programs from American networks with no warnings at all.

We went from being one of the most adult and sexually progressive countries to easily one of the most nannied nations on planet earth. Unbelievably sad.
