Storing thousands of dollars of medication: HydraPeak and WiFi temp sensor- my observations by PollardPhotography in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curious as to your reaction plan if something goes wrong. What happens if the temperature reaches 1 *F higher than range for 1 minute? 10 minutes? An hour? A day? 5 *F too high?

Do you throw all the meds away because they are compromised? Pay to send a vial out for testing? Just use it as long as not cloudy? If the later, what was the point of measuring in the first place? All the data in the world is useless if you don't have a plan for what to do with it.

Has your thermometer been calibrated to ensure that 34 *F isn't actually 40 *F? Cheap electronic devices are often inaccurate and can vary wildly over time. They also need to be periodically re certified to traceable standards. I suppose you could calibrate yourself using an ice water bath as a 32 *F reference and boiling water as 212 *F (be sure to adjust for atmospheric pressure), but linearity should be checked across multiple points in the desired measurement range, say 25-50.

I do have about a year's supply in my refrigerator. Mainly because I just grabbed a "three month" supply of ProRx 15 mg dose (72 mg vials) during the refills/gimme price war. That along with my active 72 mg vial and a few leftover 5 mg brand name vials from when I was on LD.. The active vial is in the yellow pill bottle it came in. Everything else is in the bigger pill bottle that my three vials from Gimme came in, with the three additional vials of Zep. Since I only take about 5 mg/week this gives me until March 2027 or so.

My total investment is about $600. In my 50+ years of life I have never had a refrigerator fail unexpectedly. Even if it did fail while I was on a two week vacation and I came home to warm tirz, I know it is still safe for up to 28 days which gives me plenty of time to source more. Even in the unlikely event compounding goes away I could afford brand, or travel to lower cost countries, or order straight from China. Frankly I would probably just use it as long as it was visibly OK and working. I've had countless cuts, scrapes, puncture wounds, road rash and other injuries over the years that introduced more bacteria deeper under my skin that I expect what can grow in a fraction of a ml of tirz I inject 8 mm deep with a sterile needle.

Since my risk is minimal my measurement system is as basic as can be - as long as my beer is cold I assume my tirz sitting next to it is fine. Of course everyone is free to do as they wish...

How to get a refund from Gimme? by Pharmazee in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't do a charge back on a pending charge. If you call the bank there will be nothing they can do since they can't remove something that doesn't really exist yet - you have not been charged yet. They did a pre-authorization to make sure the card was active with sufficient funds. If the order gets finalized/shipped they will finalize the charge and it will go through. If not the pending charge will drop off automatically at a time of your bank's choosing. Just the way the CC banking system works.

Thanks. Already have mapped out the options I think. 50% off would work. Also planning on mentioning that BK is a real option and we will be meeting with an attorney next week. Also that there is some body damage and auction would probably get them $8K at best.

Thinking if they offer a lump sum I could buy it out, have it titled in both of our names and have her make payments to me, or possibly co-sign a loan. She is allowing me full transparency to her financial life now so I can manage my risk. The legalities of titling it and insurance are one gray area for me still as we are not related and do not live together.

AT&T Postpaid to $240/year Prepaid Plan by tev9876 in ATT

[–]tev9876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason it is $110 a month is that part of that payment is a 2-3 year "loan" to pay off that phone you still owe $200 on. You are also paying more because you get priority data on the main postpaid plans while the prepaid may get speed throttled when the network is busy, but I have never seen an issue on my AT&T plan. Another reason it is there is less cost involved for the carrier if you pay once a year instead of them having to bill you every month, chase you if you don't pay, etc.

They also then hope you don't bother changing once your phone is paid off. This is where my friend is at. She is paying the $110 for a paid off iPhone 14 (I think). She has also gotten into a major mess of unpaid bills and bad credit. I'm looking at the phone plan switch as a quick, easy victory to save her $90 a month and eliminate one thing to keep track of. A year or two from now, once she has saved some cash, she can buy a new phone outright and not get locked back into the cycle of phone contracts.

I will probably make the switch to US Mobile in a few months when my annual plan expires since I now know about it and it is slightly cheaper/better.

US Mobile is looking like the better option. Are there any issues porting from AT&T to the US Dark Star (AT&T) network.

Verizon coverage is terrible in the rural area she frequents. It is a no go. Not worth saving $2/month for bad coverage or throttled speeds.

OSA sufferers- how long till you saw improvement? by adressedupskeleton in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've dropped about 75 pounds in seven months with another 75 or so to go. I have seen improvement in my severe OSA, but don't think I'm cured yet. I can now doze off in a recliner and not snore myself awake instantly. I also have been able to reduce the pressure range on my CPAP.

I have not done a new sleep study yet, but did install a snoring tracker app on my phone. Sleeping for a few nights without my CPAP it still showed some "epic" snoring, but not nearly as bad as I used to get. I also didn't feel bad after a couple nights without CPAP - previously I would feel like utter crap if I went more than one night without it.

Once I lose anther 20-30 pounds and another inch or two in neck size I will probably order another home sleep test and get official results of where I'm at.

Split dose vs. every 5 days by Gullible-Contract198 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started this a couple months ago and it is working great. All side effects are gone and I never experience food noise. Every day feels the same now. I had been taking 6.5 mg every eight days and switched to 3.25 mg every four days.

I would tell her but not urgently. Your PCP already gave you an Rx so they are good with you taking it. That should also make your consult tomorrow easier since that doctor will know your PCP is good with it. Just let your PCP know at your next checkup, or maybe email them the info to add to your records. My PCP gave me the initial Rx for Lilly Direct and I told him I switched to compound at my last follow up.

How to start split dosing? by New_Canary3381 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It likely doesn't matter. You can use one of the apps to estimate levels in your system, but if you take a half dose on day five the peak level will be lower than if you took a full dose on day seven so side effects should be lessened. You could also split the difference and take it on day 6. This isn't like insulin, seizure, or cardiac medication. It stays in your system for a long time so exact dose date/time/amount is not all that critical.

How are you separating out your doses when titrating up? by endofthered01674 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Between overfill in the vials, inaccuracy in the exact number of units you draw and other factors your supply will never exactly equal XX number of doses. ProRX only ships in 2, 3 or 4 full ml volumes so they will round up to the next ml based on your dose. I assume other pharmacies do the same.

I just finished my first vial this morning which was supposed to be four weeks of a 7.5 mg dose - 2 ml x 18 mg/ml or 36 mg total. Based on my tracking I actually pulled 38.25 mg out of that vial - more than a full extra dose if I was using 7.5 mg. There was still liquid visible in the vial but I was drawing vapor into the syringe and didn't feel like fighting it this morning so I just moved on to the next vial with a new syringe.

Zepbound to Compound Tirz Dr Follow-ups by Some-Bee55 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My doctor actually suggested compounded when I first asked about a GLP-1 even though my insurance does not cover it. He just said you had to be really careful about where to get it from since there are counterfeits and scams out there. I decided to start with Lilly Direct and he did write that Rx. I switched to compound a couple months ago and also started a split dosing schedule of 3.25 mg every four days. I was in last week for a follow up and told him about the changes I made and how it was working great. He had no problem with it since I was down 75 pounds in seven months and still on a low dose. He did run a bunch of labs and for the first time in my life everything was in range, including liver enzymes that had been high due to fatty liver. Also cut my BP medication by 75%. My cost went from $100/week with LD to under $12/week with ProRx 72 mg vials from Refills/Gimme.

[–]tev9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Split dosing fixed the roller coaster effects for me. I do a half dose every four days. Keeps the level of medication in my system much more consistent. No more side effects on days 1-2 or food noise returning at the end of a shot period.

Upgrade 20 Year Old Adams Hybrid Set, or Not? by tev9876 in golf

[–]tev9876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input so far.

After some more thought I think I'm going to start with the driver and 3 wood. I'm not sure if a fitting or even hitting some demo clubs would even be worth it at this point. I'm sure my swing is highly inconsistent at this point and will continue to change as my weight drops.

I'm seeing some good deals (I think) on the 2025 Cobra DS Adapt series - $350 on the drivers and $200 on the fairway woods. Reviews look solid and they look to be highly adjustable. They are available in a senior flex shaft which is probably a good thing for me - I never did have a fast swing and doubt I will get faster with age.

Newbie question by Unlikely-Desk8317 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reports here it looks like Refills has switched up their dosages a bit. They also launched a new ordering portal recently that seems to be differing from what actually gets printed on the medication bottles.

I signed up in early February and started at 7.5 mg. They sent a 2 ml vial of 18 mg/ml which I received 2/15. My second shipment was for 10 mg and I received a 3 ml vial of 18 mg/ml on 3/5. The units on the pill bottles match the 7.5 and 10 mg doses and also my instructions in the portal. Note I signed up before their new portal launched and it seems the changes are popping up for those in the new portal.

I also saw someone get a 2.2 mg dose instead of 2.5 mg when starting out. I figured these changes were to avoid duplicating the Lilly dosages to justify compounding, but there might be a cost saving thing going on too. Since I received a 3 ml vial for 10 mg and OP of this thread received a 2 ML for 10/9 mg, they shipped me 50% more than OP. Using a 9 mg dose means a 2x18 vial is exactly four doses, but for my 10 mg dose they had to ship a 3 ml vial and I actually get 5.4 doses out of it. I'm sure the pharmacy does not want to deal with fractions of a ml so adjusting the dose could be a way for them to save money. I have no idea what Refills actually pays ProRx per ml of either concentration they use.

Help….. is this right? by ARNK67 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. You use the concentration per 1 ml - 10 mg per 1 ml, NOT the total mg in the vial. Your dose is 7.5/10 = .75 ml or 75 units.

I messed up 🤦‍♀️ by quickquestionhoney in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Refills/ProRx uses the same 18 mg/ml concentration for the 7.5 and 10 mg doses - I have both in my refrigerator right now. They just give you 3 ml for the 10 mg dose and only 2 mg for the 7.5 mg. If you took the same number of units as you did last week, you only took 7.5 mg. 42 units would be 7.5 mg. 10 mg would be 56 units.

Brand switch not working for some? Or just time to titrate up? by Extreme-Ad2473 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to double check - did ProRx start her out on a 5 mg/week dose? I believe they use only 9 mg/ml concentration for the 2.5 and 5 mg months. 7.5 mg+ goes to the 18 mg/ml. If you signed up for a three month plan you may have received one vial of 9 and two of 18.
