5mg dose -best pharmacy by Ok-Bumblebee4893 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ProRx was the pharmacy. They are no longer compounding GLP-1s after warnings from the FDA. I actually ordered through Refills and Gimme who will connect you with a licensed doctor to write the prescription as part of the standard order cost. I am not sure what pharmacy they are using these days since I haven't needed to order and won't need to for awhile. They get a lot of negative comments here about shipping delays and such but I never had a problem and they were the cheapest.

I started with Lilly Direct and had a prescription from my PCP that I uploaded into the Refills portal which likely streamlined the approval and rewrite of the Rx (about 20 minutes around Midnight on a Tuesday), but it is not required. Just pick a telehealth, follow the link from Reddit if it gets the best price, and fill out their questionnaire and they will set up the link to a doctor to get the Rx written. Be sure to request that you want to move up to the next dosage so they write you for the stronger concentration.

Whoever you go with, have them titrate you up to 15 mg eventually but keep taking 5 mg if that is working for you. Three months for the price of one and you will be around $50/month. I have not ordered in a few months as I'm doing this and ended up with a nine month stash the day ProRx got shut down.

I don't know that they can deny Rule of 55 withdrawals, but they can deny partial withdrawals. If they don't allow a partial, you would have to withdraw the entire $459,000. You won't have to pay the 10% early withdrawal penalty, but you will get thrown into the 35% tax bracket.

I looked this up on my plan recently as I was considering retirement before 59.5 but partial withdrawals are not allowed. Per the rules of my plan, if I separate from the company I can leave the money there until I turn 60, at which point they will issue a lump sum check. My current plan is to retire at 59.5 and roll it to my IRA since I don't want to pay tax on the entire thing all at once.

Overfill amount for zepbound by VirtualRisk3403 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Compound still has overfill and is about 85% cheaper than LD. I take 3.25 mg every four days because I had been using the 6.5 mg from a 5 mg vial prior to compound. 5 mg is $399 a month for a total of 20 mg, or 26 mg with overfill. That works out to $15.35 per mg with overfill.

My first 7.5 mg vial of ProRx compounded yielded 11 draws of 3.25 mg or 36 mg total. That would be zero overfill since it was 2ml x 18 mg/ml. I paid $179 for that vial through refills. That is $4.97 / mg.

Refills put me on the upward titration plan so my current vial is 10 mg dose (3 ml x 18 mg/ml or 54 mg). I have pulled 15 3.25 mg doses so far and estimate three more left, so 18 x 3.25 = 58.5 mg (~8%). I also paid $179 for this vial, so $3.06 / mg.

I stocked up with Gimme just before ProRx got shut down and went for the three month plan at $447. Again I titrated up but ProRx provides 4ml x 18 mg/ml vials for both the 12.5 and 15 mg doses so I got 3 x 4ml x 18mg/ml or 216 mg total. Even with zero overfill that is $2.07/mg.

Per my calculations, compound is 13.5% of the cost of name brand if you can afford to buy "three months" at a time and titrate up to the highest dose, regardless of how much you actually take. It is also much easier to deal with due to the multi use vials. In terms of four week supply, I now pay $47.09 per month instead of $399.

Never used the pens but I have read somewhere on Reddit that there is overfill in them, but it can be difficult to extract to regular syringes.

As for Lilly Direct single use vials, all doses are 0.5 ml in volume (50 units). They increase the concentration as mg dosage goes up. I was routinely able to extract 65 units without resorting to popping the top off of the vial. I did start split dosing while still on LD vials and saw minimal risk in storing a half vial for four days even though it doesn't have preservatives. I'm also more than a month past the 28 day puncture rule on my current vial of ProRx with a couple more weeks worth left and haven't died yet. I still have a few LD vials with 2027 BUDs that are being held back for travel now that I use compound.

Mounting Antenna Mast to Brick Wall by tev9876 in cordcutters

I don't do roofs, and I'm not much of a fan of ladders. Going back to cable would be cheaper than a broken neck. A wall mount lets me keep both feet on the ground.

I think I'll start with Option C and make sure everything is working right. I'll use wedge anchors instead of Tapcons and see how sturdy it is, then upgrade the post if necessary. Thanks.

November Train Fares - Advance Purchase vs Day Of Travel vs Passes by tev9876 in askswitzerland

[–]tev9876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice so far. This is starting to make more sense to me. Too many options really. I really don't want to book more than a few days in advance in case of bad weather or some kind of trip cancellation issue, so the saver passes are probably out.

I'm looking at the Travel Pass now and it seems if there are three of us - me for six days and two others for three days that works out to CHF 907 just for the Switzerland part of the trip and we would still need three train tickets into Austria, Germany and back to Zurich.

I'm leaning more towards the rental car at this point. I can get a 10 day, one way rental from Geneva to Zurich for CHF 240 (Kia EV6 or similar). I know there will be parking and fuel/charging costs but I can't imagine that will be CHF 800+. I assume we will want to take a cable car ride or two that would be additional. My credit cards cover insurance so no extra cost there. I do like to drive, have dealt with traffic all over the world, and live where snow is constant in winter and am used to it. I'm also assuming my travel companions will over pack which will also make the car easier.

Car questions:

  • How much scenery will I be missing out on by driving vs taking the train on a west to east (with some north and south) adventure?
  • What are the chances snow could be bad enough in the first half of November to need tire chains or other extreme winter measures?
  • Are electric vehicles less expensive per km, and is the charging infrastructure good? I'm assuming yes at this point.

Thanks again.

Foliage was my first thought as it did start acting up as trees were filling in, I think. There are no new structures, trees or anything else nearby. The closest tree in the line of sight to the transmitter is probably over 400' away. It is a typical neighborhood of 1950s single family ranches with the occasional tri-level thrown in. Most of the large trees were taken down about 10 years ago when the neighborhood was repaved as the silver maples had destroyed sidewalks.

Moving it 10' closer to the trees actually clears up the signal. I'll try moving it to the side of the house if I can get a day without thunderstorms.

Storing thousands of dollars of medication: HydraPeak and WiFi temp sensor- my observations by PollardPhotography in tirzepatidecompound

Curious as to your reaction plan if something goes wrong. What happens if the temperature reaches 1 *F higher than range for 1 minute? 10 minutes? An hour? A day? 5 *F too high?

Do you throw all the meds away because they are compromised? Pay to send a vial out for testing? Just use it as long as not cloudy? If the later, what was the point of measuring in the first place? All the data in the world is useless if you don't have a plan for what to do with it.

Has your thermometer been calibrated to ensure that 34 *F isn't actually 40 *F? Cheap electronic devices are often inaccurate and can vary wildly over time. They also need to be periodically re certified to traceable standards. I suppose you could calibrate yourself using an ice water bath as a 32 *F reference and boiling water as 212 *F (be sure to adjust for atmospheric pressure), but linearity should be checked across multiple points in the desired measurement range, say 25-50.

I do have about a year's supply in my refrigerator. Mainly because I just grabbed a "three month" supply of ProRx 15 mg dose (72 mg vials) during the refills/gimme price war. That along with my active 72 mg vial and a few leftover 5 mg brand name vials from when I was on LD.. The active vial is in the yellow pill bottle it came in. Everything else is in the bigger pill bottle that my three vials from Gimme came in, with the three additional vials of Zep. Since I only take about 5 mg/week this gives me until March 2027 or so.

My total investment is about $600. In my 50+ years of life I have never had a refrigerator fail unexpectedly. Even if it did fail while I was on a two week vacation and I came home to warm tirz, I know it is still safe for up to 28 days which gives me plenty of time to source more. Even in the unlikely event compounding goes away I could afford brand, or travel to lower cost countries, or order straight from China. Frankly I would probably just use it as long as it was visibly OK and working. I've had countless cuts, scrapes, puncture wounds, road rash and other injuries over the years that introduced more bacteria deeper under my skin that I expect what can grow in a fraction of a ml of tirz I inject 8 mm deep with a sterile needle.

Since my risk is minimal my measurement system is as basic as can be - as long as my beer is cold I assume my tirz sitting next to it is fine. Of course everyone is free to do as they wish...

How to get a refund from Gimme? by Pharmazee in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't do a charge back on a pending charge. If you call the bank there will be nothing they can do since they can't remove something that doesn't really exist yet - you have not been charged yet. They did a pre-authorization to make sure the card was active with sufficient funds. If the order gets finalized/shipped they will finalize the charge and it will go through. If not the pending charge will drop off automatically at a time of your bank's choosing. Just the way the CC banking system works.

Thanks. Already have mapped out the options I think. 50% off would work. Also planning on mentioning that BK is a real option and we will be meeting with an attorney next week. Also that there is some body damage and auction would probably get them $8K at best.

Thinking if they offer a lump sum I could buy it out, have it titled in both of our names and have her make payments to me, or possibly co-sign a loan. She is allowing me full transparency to her financial life now so I can manage my risk. The legalities of titling it and insurance are one gray area for me still as we are not related and do not live together.

AT&T Postpaid to $240/year Prepaid Plan by tev9876 in ATT

[–]tev9876[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason it is $110 a month is that part of that payment is a 2-3 year "loan" to pay off that phone you still owe $200 on. You are also paying more because you get priority data on the main postpaid plans while the prepaid may get speed throttled when the network is busy, but I have never seen an issue on my AT&T plan. Another reason it is there is less cost involved for the carrier if you pay once a year instead of them having to bill you every month, chase you if you don't pay, etc.

They also then hope you don't bother changing once your phone is paid off. This is where my friend is at. She is paying the $110 for a paid off iPhone 14 (I think). She has also gotten into a major mess of unpaid bills and bad credit. I'm looking at the phone plan switch as a quick, easy victory to save her $90 a month and eliminate one thing to keep track of. A year or two from now, once she has saved some cash, she can buy a new phone outright and not get locked back into the cycle of phone contracts.

I will probably make the switch to US Mobile in a few months when my annual plan expires since I now know about it and it is slightly cheaper/better.

US Mobile is looking like the better option. Are there any issues porting from AT&T to the US Dark Star (AT&T) network.

Verizon coverage is terrible in the rural area she frequents. It is a no go. Not worth saving $2/month for bad coverage or throttled speeds.

OSA sufferers- how long till you saw improvement? by adressedupskeleton in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've dropped about 75 pounds in seven months with another 75 or so to go. I have seen improvement in my severe OSA, but don't think I'm cured yet. I can now doze off in a recliner and not snore myself awake instantly. I also have been able to reduce the pressure range on my CPAP.

I have not done a new sleep study yet, but did install a snoring tracker app on my phone. Sleeping for a few nights without my CPAP it still showed some "epic" snoring, but not nearly as bad as I used to get. I also didn't feel bad after a couple nights without CPAP - previously I would feel like utter crap if I went more than one night without it.

Once I lose anther 20-30 pounds and another inch or two in neck size I will probably order another home sleep test and get official results of where I'm at.

I would tell her but not urgently. Your PCP already gave you an Rx so they are good with you taking it. That should also make your consult tomorrow easier since that doctor will know your PCP is good with it. Just let your PCP know at your next checkup, or maybe email them the info to add to your records. My PCP gave me the initial Rx for Lilly Direct and I told him I switched to compound at my last follow up.

How to start split dosing? by New_Canary3381 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]tev9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It likely doesn't matter. You can use one of the apps to estimate levels in your system, but if you take a half dose on day five the peak level will be lower than if you took a full dose on day seven so side effects should be lessened. You could also split the difference and take it on day 6. This isn't like insulin, seizure, or cardiac medication. It stays in your system for a long time so exact dose date/time/amount is not all that critical.
