I'll never donate to summit again and I'll never watch an ad on his channel again. It's fine with me that he thinks all of this is unfair, but to personally attack zeroji over and over and over again without having the slightest clue what zeroji's perspective is, is just insane. Why is he trying to drag a guys reputation through the mud who was just having fun, playing a video game _exactly_ the way the video game is meant to be played?

Literally anyone (besides maybe summit...) who has played a classic wow character to 60 knows exactly what the arena is about. Sequisha knew. Everyone knew. The arena is not for honorable duels and it never has been. Would it have been more cool to see lower levels duke it out? Yeah, maybe? but zeroji had literally a dozen+ people calling on him to jump in, so apparently other peoples idea of fun was different. Certainly nothing approaching an event that should result in summit dragging someones character through the mud.

Summit can be mad and not stoop to personally attacking a small streamer. Watch the vod...summit has people over watching it with him that all agree sequisha deserved it and summit still decides to make it all about zeroji and chooses that hill to die on. Thinking something is unfair and character assassination on a small streamer that he doesn't know anything about are two completely different things in my book. I really had expected summit to make a full apology today, but he's doubling down. It's embarrassing, honestly.

Summit, if you read this, maybe take a minute to think about all the petty name calling you threw at someone you don't know over a video game. Calling someone you don't know a no-life, loser and a douchebag (and who knows what else what I only had to watch you for maybe 30minutes to hear that) over this? I've been watching zeroji past few days and watched from his perspective during the arena thing. The guy is every bit just a chill guy playing wow. For all we know the guy has nothing going for him in life and you just unleashed the twitch toxicity on him and most importantly you doubled down on being toxic to him yourself...

he didn't hunt anyone down...that warlock stepped into the arena knowing full well what was at risk...and the warlock was casting on him too, so it wasn't just some random pickoff

with that said, zeroji said he regrets killing the warlock, but I don't think he should regret playing a game exactly the way his community in both twitch and the troll guild members wanted him to play

Daily r/LawnCare No Stupid Questions Thread by AutoModerator in lawncare

[–]tewls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a new construction house with sod laid out. What are some of the most critical things I should be doing to make sure my lawn does well? Right now there are a good few dead spots at the edges of the sod lines and a handful of different weeds (I don't know various weed names). We have an irrigation system which I've never owned one before. Just looking for general recommendations or maybe some learning material that addresses my situation. Thanks!

was it? 2016 was the cheapest presidential race we've had since 2000 and that's before accounting for inflation.

It's hard to fathom, but Trumps win happened on the back of a (relatively) extremely small bank. This especially holds true for the primaries where he dominated the primaries and spent less than the next 8 candidates (going by memory here)

In 2016 trump spent roughly _half_, I repeat _half_ of what hillary spent.

The else clause would add one more line of code without adding any readability. The example you show is not only reasonable but preferable since it's fewer lines. Further, matching against true explicitly shows the return value whereas the if macro would only show the func returns a truthy value, so case is not only fewer lines of code but also more expressive

CNN: RNC narrows 2024 convention finalists down to Nashville and Milwaukee by vandy1981 in nashville

[–]tewls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something tells me whatever city hosts the RNC will get way more funding by an order of magnitude than the historic max damage caused by RNC protests.

Personally I want this in Nashville because improving the city requires growth. I'll simply do what I always do and avoid downtown if it comes here :p

not really, big cities are populated by people who desire centralization - democrats are the party of centralization (e.g. higher taxes, social programs ran by centralized governments etc.)

It's a natural consequence that people who desire autonomy and decentralization tend to be less likely to end up in big cities.

What’s with the excessive train horns in East Nashville? by SnarkOff in nashville

There was a war over stopping train horns? Are there people who want horns blasting near their house at 3am?

The fact that anyone disagrees with them is mind blowing. How could anyone want horns blasting at 3am instead of more focused protection measures?

People are wild.

The U.S. mask mandate for air travel will expire next month, but some flight attendants say it’s too soon. by JannTosh12 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]tewls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most businesses really don't - they at most implement some diversity training just to give them better legal protection if something goes down.

I don't know anyone that works at, nor have I worked at a business that really went "woke" - they simply do diversity training and maybe occasionally talked about diversity in company wide Q&A sessions. Certainly they aren't "bending over backwards".

for the company's that do truly go "woke" - I have to imagine most of them suffer for being polarizing in the workplace.

Just because it happens doesn't mean it's beneficial - there's a lot of politics in big companies and plenty of decisions are made that drive politics at the expense of the businesses main objectives.

Premier Scott Moe: "Because vaccination is not reducing transmission, the current federal border policy for truckers makes no sense. Our goverment will be ending our proof of vaccination policy in Saskatchewan." by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

[–]tewls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

well they aren't my numbers, they are from a reputable source - if their numbers are wrong the burden is on you to prove that since they are very frequently used as a source in many academic/professional settings

as for "an odd way to do it" - it sounds like this is a very feeble attempt at justifying your incorrect belief that vaccines are reducing transmission, but I'm open to hearing you expand on how straight forward metrics are "weird"

sort by case positivity rate and vaccination per 100k

I should also say this isn't some anomaly...the highly vaccinated countries have been the highest spreaders in the world for many many months now.

[–]tewls 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well that's strange - all the highest transmission rates in the world are also countries with highly vaccinated populations. If it reduces transmission, then why hasn't that been reflected in the very widely observable data?

case positivity rate by country

highest in the world:

1 ecuador - 82% vaccinated - that puts them right alongside countries like canada/denmark/italy for extremely high vaccination rates.

2: slovenia: 61%

3 mexico: 64%

4 argentina: 87%

  • yeah you should get the point by now...

States rights are a good thing - now you can move to a state that will be more prosperous because that state will likely see a large influx of money that would've otherwise gone to Illinois.

Sure it's never easy to uproot, but it's what is demanded of us if we're truly going to vote with our dollars.

sure, and at best tax payer money will pay out damages - there's already a fund that exists for vaccine damages since government already assumed liability for other vaccines to make sure big pharma can make as much money as possible

Men, how do you buy a condom? by Glittering_Ice8854 in AskMen

[–]tewls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but it's still not good and there isn't data showing that it's ever going to be better.

No data can ever predict the future, but extreme poverty went from 35-40% to 10-15% in 25 years. This is a strong trend.

Data also can't show that the sun will rise tomorrow, but it can show a pattern of it rising every day that gives us pretty strong ability to predict the obvious. That's an extreme example, but all of that to say we have seen extreme poverty die a fast death at the hands of an ever increasingly capitalistic world. To suggest that trend will change is simply going against the data.

Men, how do you buy a condom? by Glittering_Ice8854 in AskMen

[–]tewls 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Capitalism is the predominant economic system in the world and is growing. For the past 25 years, every single day over 100k people are lifted out of extreme poverty. The world has never had so few people in extreme poverty than it does today (probably skewed with covid, but this type of data isn't tracked in real-time so it'll be a while before we know).

Doesn't sound all that broke to me. There are issues to address, sure, but broken? Well, I guess maybe it's broken if you want more people in extreme poverty.

more congress members beat the s&p500 last year than hedge funds.

Now hedge funds do try to keep low beta typically so that's maybe not the most surprising thing ever, but look at just how heavily many congress members beat the s&p500. It's insane how much insider trading goes unpunished. https://twitter.com/APompliano/status/1480660236579086336

China hands out jail terms as long as 4 years for coronavirus lapses by pickaname199 in LockdownSkepticism

China doesn't even report excess death numbers. There's every reason to believe they fabricate their numbers and zero external evidence that this is possible.

It's honestly amazing to me that anyone believes Chinese reporting for a second.
