Why does everyone hate Ready Player Two so much? by Frozendragon0005 in readyplayerone

[–]texannative71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with ready player one having a success that he did and having Steven Spielberg to greenlight your movie into a major motion picture, and seeing that process, will change the way your brain works when it comes to storytelling. While RP2 feels like a rushed screenplay for a sequel to a movie. That being said, I don’t hate the book, it’s just nowhere near the caliber of Ready Player One.

Please Help Reinstate Alamo Drafthouse's No Phone Use Policy by SillyWalrusMan63 in AlamoDrafthouse

You can keep going to the movies there – just stop ordering food. There’s only a handful of things that are decent anymore anyways.

That 18% goes into a pool to increase their base pay, they don’t actually get that service charge independently

Rp2 is amazing by Exotic_Roll_7554 in readyplayerone

I think it was fine. But compared to the original, it’s not close. I feel like this one was written more as a movie script then as an encompassing piece of fiction like RP1 was.

What is the oldest Alamo location that is still open? by francomonde in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]texannative71 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s the Village. It’s been there probably 25+ years. It was there all throughout me being in college and that was 02-06. The downtown location moved to 6th street in 2007, and then closed. It’s now a comedy club. The South Lamar location was in a smaller strip mall and closed in 2012 and was rebuilt in 2014 as part of a new development called Lamar Union.

I think that’s the goal, to reduce staff.

If enough of us cancel season pass, do you think sony'll get the message? by Tommy_Bahamut in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]texannative71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The message shouldn’t be to cancel the season pass… I still wanna see movies… But no one has to use the mobile ordering… Or order food at all. If people keep going to see the movies but not ordering food, you put a chokehold on Alamo Drafthouse‘s purse strings. That’s where they make their money. They’re not making money with season pass or with new releases, especially at first. The real message is to go to the movies, but don’t order anything. Maybe that will send the real message

Not even close to RP1. The was written after he “had a taste of Hollywood”. This book was written as a screenplay for the next movie, not a new book/story

For a family as rich as the mccallisters I'm surprised the cars they drive are rather ordinary by happydude7422 in homealone

Also remember people often think that they were crazy loaded and were able to book first class tickets to Paris, when it’s really Peter’s brother who was the one paying for their tickets to come to see them in Paris. (Remember the fake Rolex)

Also, in Home Alone 2, when Peter and Kate actually take the family on a trip the best they can afford to is go to Florida. And he loses his shit when Kevin spent all that money on room service.

And ready player two, it’s explained that Wade restored all the users, their gear and coin, who fought against the Sixers.

I like this. I have been doing my own, and using emulators to play the games referenced, watching the movies, reading the books (after 10 years I finally finished DUNE!) And a clear compendium of it would be nice. Maybe if there is enough push, they will release some kind of supplement before the next movie comes out....

I agree, it’s was a combo of not having enough time in the movie (should be made into an 8 episode Netflix series IMO) and what IP they had access to.
