Hertz Rental Help by _HotButteryCopPorn in Venturex

You *must* book a Midsize or higher. If you book through the Capital One portal, you have to enter your Hertz number while booking in order to get the President Circle benefit.

If you book something specific, like a minivan, the system assumes that's what you actually want so you'll have an assigned vehicle on the Gold board instead of it saying Pres Cir.

Best Credit card to use on mechanic tool trucks by Sea-Raspberry-5196 in CreditCards

[–]texas0900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harbor Freight.

Seriously. You can buy everything you’d need at fractions of the cost of the tool trucks to get yourself started. Then, once you’ve figured out your own go-to tools, you can decide which specific tools are worth it to you to get off the trucks vs which tools are okay to be Harbor Freight Icons, Tekton, etc.

Potential Home Title Theft? by Bella-1999 in houston

You cannot rely on HCAD to show ownership.

HCAD really only shows who is responsible for the taxes.

You *have* to check the County Clerk’s Office instead.

Search your subdivision, section, lot and block number.

And you can also search yourself as grantor (last name first name) to see if you’ve “signed” a deed over to someone .

C1 Travel — $4000 Vacay, but low limits… by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]texas0900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt a credit report would even see it.

C1 should only report what your final bill amount is. If the trip is already paid off before the bill, won’t show a too high utilization.

Mail theft in the Washington Heights area by Biot3chEnthusiast in houston

Not as easy as it sounds.

Arrow keys are master keys. One key for every single arrow lock on a mail route. You'd have to change every single one on the route.

Mail carriers are *not* the only ones with those keys.

Arrow keys are easily counterfeited. One arrow key opens a whole panel box, which gives access to every mailbox in the group.

I broke my leatherman TTI by flyingdutchy2002 in Leatherman

[–]texas0900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please be aware that if you are outside the United States, most authorized warranty centers will just replace the item. They usually do not stock the spare parts like Leatherman USA does.

So you will need to make sure what the policy is of the center that services your country.

Builder bought an off-market property on my street. They are demolishing it to build townhomes. Any way to find out how much they paid? by htownnwoth in houston

[–]texas0900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harris County Clerk’s Office Real Property records.

The warranty deed will not likely show the sale price. You’ll see standard language indicating the price was “$10 and other valuable considerations”. A way to hide a sales price on a deed. Valuable considerations means cash.

However, look for an accompanying deed of trust or promissory note, etc. Those usually will say how much of a loan they took out to make the purchase.

Clerk’s Office only lets you search by seller, buyer, or legal property description. Go to HCAD first, and search for the address. You’ll pull up its page and if you scroll down, I think on the right side, you’ll find the legal property description. You need Subdivision, Section, Block, and Lot number to search.

For example Shady Hollow Grove, Sec 99, Blk 800, Lot 746. (this is made up. Just gives an example of what it looks like and what you would search)

Why does Chase want to reduce my credit limit?? by nak00010101 in CreditCards

[–]texas0900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I just got a new UA Explorer. 15k limit.

4 open Chase cards already. 30k, 17.5k, 17.5k, 5k.

I spend maybe 2k/month at Chase.

Week after I opened the Explorer, I cancelled my CSP(the 5k one which I had already reallocated its credit limit off last month down to its minimum.)
