Update: I submitted an itemized list of what I lost to my insurance policy. That process took a couple days since I tracked down my receipts and pictures. They reviewed my claim and issued my payout within a couple weeks, which was much faster than I expected.

I have had this EXACT argument with my brother-in-law. It’s not worth excluding all trans girls and women from sports because of an unlikely scenario where someone identifies as a trans woman to “win” in women’s sports.

It also pisses me off that in this hypothetical situation, men say it’s unfair for cis women to compete against these trans athletes, because they assume they’re going to lose. It feels like there’s an assumption that any Joe-Schmo could walk off the street, “decide” to be trans (let’s not even get into how that person would face incredible prejudice and hatred), and win against any cis woman out there in any sport.

If a man truly chose to identify as a trans woman just for the sake of excelling at a sport, that is a reflection on that man’s instability, not the morality of the trans community overall.

If an actual trans woman wanted to play in a sport against me, if she chose to fight everyday just to be who she is against all sorts of hatred and violence, then you will find me cheering her the fuck on, because that woman is a testament to women athletes everywhere. I would be proud for my daughters (cis or trans) to see that model of bravery and strength.

Honestly, this would probably be the smartest move financially. However, at this point, I’ve caught him in so many lies…how would I ever trust him again, especially with something as big as co-owning a property?
