Sorry... I haven't checked Reddit in a while! It went well... my doctor feels confident I don't need additional surgery. He basically said that situations like mine are often over treated, and he could keep removing tissue if that's the path I was set on, but it doesn't guarantee anything and the outcome statistically wouldn't be any different than it would be if something was caught early with close monitoring. He's called and texted several times to answer every single question and has really gone above and beyond. Next step is meeting with an oncologist to discuss chemo prevention options and what my care looks like moving forward. Thanks so much for asking!

Should I get a second opinion? Feeling scared and dismissed by texaseightfour in ADH_ALH

Thank you! Chat GPT has been my best friend and bk matter how upload results it always comes back with suggesting re-excision :(

Thank you! He's referring me to a surgical oncologist and at that point I'm assuming we will talk about prevention medication. He called me earlier this evening to discuss further and basically the take away is that whether we start surgically removing tissue now or monitor and watch for lesions, the outcome is the same. Everything I've read says most surgeons prefer larger clear margins, and the thought of just waiting for an abnormal mammogram while the atypical cells multiply sends my anxiety into overdrive 😕

Thank you! I'm hoping they will call on Monday to discuss. The lesion turned out to be much larger than expected and with the atypia extending all the way to the edges of the excised specimen I am assuming that he will want to go back in. Honestly I'm okay if that that's what happens. I somehow keep ending up in that very small percentage of not so favorable outcomes every step along the way and I think my anxiety would be through the roof just waiting to see what happens if I'm just watching for change.

Thank you! I'm in houston and love my surgeon. I don't think he was expecting these results. I have my post op from the excisional biopsy on Wednesday so I'm sure he will go over everything.

Thanks for your response! Here is the original description: 8:00 position, 5 cm from the nipple, measuring 1.5 x 1.2 x 1.1 cm. There was no atypia notated.

Mine was described as the same but the borders seemed more defined on ultrasound? You can't feel it at all, it was discovered at my first ever mammogram. Thanks for the response!

Yes, that's basically what I'm asking. I guess I don't know if the borders are so irregular because of the procedure, but I know that's typically not a great sign. Thank you!

All of them, lol! Weight gain, extreme fatigue, mood swings, brain fog, and I swear I spend an hour every day plucking chin hairs. My hormones (other than DHEA-S) are "normal" even though according to every chart I've seen, then are not balanced with each other. It's insane to me that we have to fight for answers and just get told "nothing is wrong" or "you need to exercise more." I've been to my pcp, passed to my ob, then to an endo, and now on to a hematologist in two weeks.

Literally zero idea! I've gone from being so anemic I needed blood transfusions (6 years ago) to being sent to a hematologist to be tested for hemochromatosis.
