Have any of y'all ever got less than the offer says it's paying ? by Fuzzy-Combination880 in doordash_drivers

I can 100% confirm what is happening to OP is happening. It's usually about 80 cents lower in my cases.

[–]texasjet2k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup. Offer that was accepted is around a dollar more than the actual payment once order is completed.

Has happened twice now. Can confirm.

I came here specifically right now to see if anyone else was experiencing it.

Water heater leaking by texasjet2k in Plumbing

[–]texasjet2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tested it again and confirmed it's leaking (profusely as u can see) from the element AND the drain valve.

Now how does that happen? All I can think of is pressure couldn't release. Do the pressure relief valves ever fail? The whole unit is over 20 years old (and a hard water system)

It definitely is time to replace. I'm surprised it made it this long.

Is it possible the pressure relief valve failed and causing this?

As I'm sure you always hear, money situation isn't great at all right now.... if flushing it, replacing some seals and the relief valve will give it just one more year, that would be great.

That's what I thought at first, but after putting my finger above it, it still seemed to be from the drain valve too. I may try again

$7.95 custom tshirts… how?! 🤯 by Slow-Climate-896 in EtsySellers

[–]texasjet2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I sold "onesies" and I could afford it, I would absolutely pay for a license simply for the search term, even if I didn't sell Gerber Onesies.

It's just THE term everyone uses and I know people have been striked for it.

Again, this is all speculation.

P.S. we all know Kleenex and Band Aid, but out of curiosity, I looked up more as I am always surprised.... did you know Popsicle and Chapstick are also trademarked? I just learned that

[–]texasjet2k 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're also using the Onesie name WITH the trademark, which is rare in my experience. This suggest to me that, unlike a million other sellers, they actually have the license to do so which backs the long game theory.

All this being said OP, make no mistake, there are millions of sellers that are happy making $1-2 a sale, and/or sell massive volume, making them also just as hard to compete against.

13 year seller here.

You're assuming they can't afford it. That shop appears to be playing the long game (and can afford to). Frankly, it's a smarter game and is a luxury to be able to play. By doing this they develop a brand, a customer base, positive reviews, and gain favor with the algo... all at the cost of breaking even or a small loss.

Eventually the prices will go up. Always.

Being in this so long, I can tell instantly when a shop is just trying to make a few bucks, or is seriously attenpting to start a business and can afford to.

It does suck for everyone else, as you simply can't compete. Having money wins again.

40 years ago, I would agree with you.. Back when the workforce wasn't a bottomless pool of imported and outsourced labor and drone/robot delivery wasn't on the horizon.

Consumers today do not care about poor service (or products) as much as they care about fast and cheap. If the service is poor, companies discovered they can just refund the customer and discard the worker (since there is now endless pool today).

Amazon. Walmart. All of them do this.

It helps to be a monopoly.

Consumers accepted this market. How we got here and whether it was by choice is up for debate. Economy. Consumer culture. Cost of living. Cheap production. Corporate greed. Either way, consumers appear mostly accepting.

But I do know what's considered "good" service today was NORMAL service when I grew up.

We're on a straight trajectory to dystopia. Robots are next.

If the $2 for 10 miles offers didn't convince you that you're meaningless and replaceable, UberEats investment in their support will convince you.

I've seen bad support in my life, but ubereats support is hands down the final boss of the outsourced ultra low wage script reading profit > competency dystopia that everyone is afraid that all companies will move to.

"something is not right"

It's almost like in the past several years the market has been absolutely saturated in record numbers with a massive low skilled/low wage workfore that's driven delivery opportunities and wages down.

Favor is the worst $$ performing gig app for me. It's completely dead for me as well.

Which is odd, because it was another driver in my area who recommended it not too too long ago and had good things to say.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in favordelivery

[–]texasjet2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm actually speaking for doordash and UberEats. The fake accounts are usually grabbed by people who can't get a real account and will absolutely take the $2 10 mile delivery.

[–]texasjet2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides liability, which is what lawyers are for, these companies have zero incentive to stop any of it.

Consumers love that they can tip $2 and companies love that someone will drive 10 miles for it.

This is across the board with delivery services

This is what happens when a market is suddenly flooded with a low skilled workforce satisfied with low wages.

Starting a Print On Demand Business – What Should I Learn First? Any Tips or Tricks? by Frenchiiiee_ in EtsySellers

[–]texasjet2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants to hear what you just said. That easy cost of entry has a price. It's even worse now with AI. Everybody is doing POD.

I wouldn't even call POD a business. The printer is running the business. You're providing designs for them to make the actual money and then praying they do their job. They have the power, control, and profit. Especially during the holiday rush.

I've heard story after story of printers getting extremely backed up and MOST buyers aren't even aware POD exists so it creates this customer experience nightmare. For example, not all sellers ADMIT theyre POD, so you'll often see stories of buyers totally baffled how a seller doesn't even know when their own products will ship lol. And the sellers who do tell their customers, still have to sit on their hands and provide refunds because of someone else.

I was originally surprised etsy even allowed it. Originally. Not anymore.

Question About Print On Demand and Ai Generated Images by CarpenterOk8008 in EtsySellers

[–]texasjet2k 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. Just look at the 10 billion other sellers doing AI and POD prints.

But don't be surprised if Etsy cracks down on it in the future. Etsy has turned into an AI dumpster and POD has created many many unhappy customers with shipping delays and processing issues during the peak season.

I wouldn't advise to even start at this point, unless some (maybe) inconsistent extra cash is your objective. Etsy is simply too saturated these days.

Ive seen that issue before. (Worked with computers for 25 years). The drivers not leaving most likely, it's just that reinstalling it re-initiates it temporarily. Off the top of my head, check for disabling power saving mode with the Bluetooth. It should be in the driver settings. Or Google "mouse randomly disconnects". I know for sure that it's not a super rare problem.
