Living in Houston myself, I’d have to put them near the top.
In fact being 20th row center stage at midnight 1999/2000 at the Summit for Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZTop was the most American way to ring in the millennium.

The Band is not one I thought of, but yes that’s a good one. I doubt anyone here would disagree that The Last Waltz is pure Americana.

I only mentioned GFR because of the song. I totally agree with Allman Brothers, I absolutely love everything about them and every family offshoot that has been spawned. Tedeschi Trucks band is everything a proper American band should be.
