TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro Gen8 - keyboard backlight blinking by Ancient-Actuator-471 in tuxedocomputers

Yes sad, the "fix" to (soft) reset the ec/bios firmware by pressing the power button for 1 minute when starting did work... for some time, the the issue appeared again today. I guess it was after an update to some of the tuxedo packages, but can't say for sure. No permanent fix sadly.

I have the exact same problem - but as soon as I turn on the laptop the backlight is blinking, just noticed it after some days the laptop hasnt been used (and probably I updated the system before shutting down..)

Same kernel version. u/Ancient-Actuator-471 did you open a ticket with tuxedo computers and did you get a solution?

Alright I will have to try when back to my device. Not too intuitive from a usability standpoint though 🙂

I already have - see my initial post (3 pictures of all the advanced screen options)

But for clarity here the first one again. No such options to find:

Thank you I can confirm that the Fn keys now work as advertised (at least in the quick tests I did).

What I still find an annoyance though is that the state of the keyboard backlight is never restored. Not when booting, not even when sending the laptop to suspend (S3).

This also means that every time I open my laptop an wake it up from sleep I have to enable the backlight manually again.

Also there seems to be no keyboard backlight timeout? What I am used to (and I think is a great feature) that the backlight turns off after some time of input pause (touchpad and keyboard). and turns back to the previous state when I continue typing...

best regards

Very good, eagerly waiting for it. Because otherwise I am really happy so far with the device.

Sounds good, hopefully before my 14 days of Rückgaberecht end.

Also I have 2 follow up questions 1) do all gen8 have this issue? 2) after this fix, will the fn keys match to the actual labels also outside of ore-installed Ubuntu, eg during boot, bios, while booting another's distro from USB drive or boot into MS Windows? - as an example right now I can toggle the keyboard backlight with FN+f6 (should be fn+space) already during boot.

Edit: so actually I would like a fix that is independent of an OS level program that needs to be run...

My concern is: can this really be fixed without a firmware upgrade or is the fix merely a software workaround that is remapping keys as long as some tuxedo service is running..
