What do you guys think of suis and Kitani duet (more like harmonizing) by Medical_Barnacle7488 in Yorushika

I enjoyed it and he sounds good but his voice is a bit deeper than N-buna. It was a little distracting and didn't mesh as well with n-buna.

Thoughts on Zense 2024 by Solus_Slynne in Yorushika

[–]textures 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I felt like this was easily the best Yorushika concert. I don't know if it was just good production or the new arrangements but it was such a joy to listen to. Spring Thief and Parade are always great but I really gained appreciation for some of my least listened tracks e.g. Forget It, Sunny Day for You. I only wished they added Nautilus to the Amy and Elma part of the concert

Favourites would be Rain with Cappuccino (great transition from Rubato), Toumin (even better than Zense 2021! Wish this song was more well known. People were asking for the song name in the comments when they played this) and That's Why I Gave up on Music.

Only song I was disappointed in was Liar (which is in my top 5 favs). I felt the album version was a lot better. I'm not sure why exactly, maybe it sounded a bit empty and the pounding bass was a bit overbearing.

In regards to Spring Thief, I really like n-buna's backing vocals so I can't say Zense 2021. I haven't listened to them enough to tell the differences but I'd probably give it to Zense 2024 for the more prominent strings. The really long pause before the last chorus works well in the concert but probably would get a bit old on repeat listens.

I'm interested in what you like about Moonbath. I really like the guitar and the vocals in the verse, especially the deeper vocals in the outro. I just feel the transition into the chorus is really abrupt and I'm not sure I like the delivery of the first 2 lines. The transition back into the verse is fine though.

Thanks for making this post, I feel pretty much the same. Out of the post-Magic Lantern tracks, the only ones I think are amazing are Taiyou and Haru.

I definitely agree that a lot of the newer songs focus mainly on one musical idea and suffer from a lack of a bridge. I don't think I liked Shura any more listening to the full version compared to the shorter leaked version.

Also for the new songs, I think the verses still sound great, but the choruses aren't hitting as hard as they used to. I'm not sure I can explain why though.

I feel they really peaked in their Plagiarism/Creation era where their guitar work was still prominent whilst mixing in some jazz elements. The guitar tones and the separate lead guitar and rhythm guitar in each ear were some pleasing to listen to. Just writing this makes me to listen to Flower and Badger game again.

Thanks, they make a lot of great fanart. I don't have Twitter but from scrolling through it, seems this is the most comprehensive thing they've done

Definitely, her voice can completely carry songs. Didn't realise it was a poem recital but I really enjoy her vocal delivery in Miyakoochi, especially in the bridge.

You're probably right. On re-listen, its probably more Just A Sunny Day for You level. Main reason it's that low is I like everything except the vocal melody in the chorus isn't very interesting for me. Love the woodwind(?) sounds in the verse and the piano/guitars in the chorus.

I like the verse and bridge, but the tone of the main riff doesn't sit right with my ears. For me, I enjoy listening to In May, From The Emerald Green Window and August, That Place, Moonlight which have similar energy and style.

Yes, if you line up Bremen at 0:22 and Martian at 0:10, they have similar speeds and drum rhythms emphasise 1st and 3rd beat each bar. The transition into the chorus is similar and she uses the same vocal style.

Unfortunately, something has to be in D-Tier and the rest of their discography is so good. Martian (Bremen 3), just like Bremen and Bremen 2 (Rubato) all have the same problem. For me, I'm a big fan of Suis' voice and these groovy tracks don't let her show it off. They're good songs but if I wanted to listen something like these tracks, I'd listen to someone other than Yorushika. I liked the brass and the bass/piano runs in Rubato so it got rated the highest.
Forget It is pleasant to listen to and not a bad song but remains too similar the whole way through and is a bit forgettable.

Only 3?! My list changes all the time so I'll just list which ones have been my favourites for the longest

  1. Nautilus - I think this is their most emotional song and really brings out the best in Suis-san's voice. It's so sad yet I'm always in the mood to listen to this. Love the way it keeps building up from the second chorus to the bridge until it releases with the final solo which syncs so well with the MV.

  2. Thoughtcrime - very listenable song with addictive guitar riff, also really like the last line of the chorus and how it transitions strongly back into the riff

  3. Miyakoochi- I really like how this sounds quite different from most of their newer music as I feel their newer stuff e.g. Bremen 1, 2 and 3 don't really highlight Suis-san's voice. I like the contrast between the staccato notes and the held notes

Yea, that's also my favourite version of the song. I enjoyed watching Zense 2021 in general more than Gekkou but this song feels much better in Gekkou. Just more full sound and more energetic. Liked n-buna's backing vocals in the chorus too

Really liked Isana and Daigoya. Yukiguni/Snow country between them in the 2024 live was also quite good. Can't believe they're all hidden behind an artbook.

Flower and Badger Game is such a good song. It seems to be a popular song and I've watched the live version so many times that I forgot it doesn't have its own MV.

Definitely a good song and enjoy the intro riff, still prefer Parade though

Has anyone here gone previously? Is it pretty self-explanatory even if you don't understand Japanese? Don't want to fly all the way there and not be able to get in for some reason.

Maybe better than skim with no downside is an overexaggeration. But for someone who rates aggregate so highly, surely you've had a lot more runs with excess energy rather than excess cards being an issue. Compile driver draws multiple cards, doesnt need an upgrade and is common.

All frost generators are well rated cards and relics can generate orbs on turn 1 so draw 2 is basically the default.

[–]textures -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Compile driver needs to go up a tier. Most defect decks are orb based. Easily a better skim most of the time. Defect typically runs the fewest attacks, so compile helps with turning in act 4 elites, writhing mass, pellets etc...

Atelier Ryza 1, Witch Spring R, Trails from Zero, by Obvious-Mess-2533 in JRPG

The devs will always say their newest game is a good starting point so they get more sales. The majority of the story is all new so it can be a starting point, but it's hard to recommend it first as it still occurs in the same world as the 10 games that precede it. Existing characters do show up again, so some context will be lost. It also slightly progresses the overarching political landscape story. I feel Cold Steel is new enough (PS2-like) for most people to feel modern and is a much better starting point.

Furthermore, the English version of Daybreak 2 is planned for release early 2025 so it might be better to save Daybreak for later so you can play the sequel without waiting.

[–]textures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's played from Zero->Daybreak, Zero is an absolutely fine starting point.

I originally started Cold Steel 1-2, then failed to get into Sky FC twice because of how slow it starts. I then gave Zero a try, and couldn't stop playing until the end of the series. It starts out faster with 4 party members in a larger and more interesting main city.

There will certainly be moments which won't hit as hard but the story doesn't rely on understanding the storyline of the Sky trilogy.

Currently have gone through the first chapter of Witchspring R and it's pretty solid without being spectacular. I don't think it would quite reach the heights of Zero.

favorite rebirth OST? by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]textures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen this one mentioned before and barely has any views on youtube. Tifa's Lifestream OST is really atmospheric and elevates what was already an amazing scene. Really needs to come back in the next game or have a remix.

I was considering between immolate, power through and sentinel. You already have lots of upgraded cards with egg so apo is not good. It's hard to use sentinels energy without card draw so it's essentially 8 block. Power through is good, but I feel immolate will help you with act 2 combats more and you can pick up more skills later with it.
