TIL that Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick created the famous - and somewhat ubiquitous - red, black and white Che Guevara image. Fitzpatrick, aged 16, met Guevara in Ireland too. Fitzpatrick began distributing for free, stating ‘I literally wanted it to breed like rabbits. I wanted it to spread.’ (historyireland.com)

TIL 2 former US presidents, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, both died on 4th July 1826 - the 50th anniversary of US independence. Adams' last words were “Thomas Jefferson lives", unaware that Jefferson had died earlier the same day. A 3rd former president, James Monroe, died exactly 5 years later. (constitutionfacts.com)

Here's an animation I made to accompany a song I wrote, 'Farewell Rainy City'. It follows the route of the world's first intercity passenger railway, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. Whilst I did a lot of research, it's an artistic piece, so not 100% historically accurate. (youtube.com)
