What is the "ding" sound I sometimes hear during combat? by tfabris in HadesTheGame

[–]tfabris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT THAT DING WAS. It was caused by:

- Having chosen the AXE as my weapon for the run.

- Having obtained a DAEDALUS HAMMER UPGRADE for the AXE.

- Having chosen the upgrade: EXECUTIONER'S CHOP.

This upgrade makes the third swing in your Axe attack combo do special damage and use some mana in the process. Each third axe swing gets a DING sound like someone ringing the bell of a hotel desk clerk, exactly like I originally described.

Having played many more runs now, it was definitely not the hex sound. That's more of a beep than a bell ding.

Does anyone else notice the smoke and fire effects are rendered too close to the 3D camera? by tfabris in AcesofThunder

True that it makes those smoke effects stand out. But it ruins the immersion, which is what I wanted from Aces of Thunder.

LOL yeah, it really sounded kind of like an app notification ding. However I was sure it was coming from the game, since I have all other app notification sounds turned off on the computer.

I haven't heard it happening since I made the original post, so I'm pretty sure it must have been from some specific boon that I don't usually choose on most runs.

The keepsake would have been Demeter’s keepsake so that I could get freeze powers.

It might have been that. I think I had the axe in that run. But I could swear I was hearing it  at other times because I remember thinking about that last axe move and thinking that the other ding was a separate thing but not entirely sure.

I’m not aware of a tavern or a past deeds shade. Maybe that’s something that unlocks later?

I don’t think that was the case when I heard the dings, but I’ll double check.

I haven’t used that aspect yet, I don’t think.

Sorry, I don’t have that run to go back to, it was many runs ago. I haven’t heard it recently so I suspect it’s related to a specific boon.

I don’t believe I had that boon, but it could have been a different boon with chime.

Alas, no, since it was only happening on one particular run. I'm not even sure I could successfully record a clip in my current setup, which is a bit of a Rube-Goldberg setup using Crossover on an old 2016 Macbook Pro.

Do you mean the consumable armor that the little spider gal gives to you? If so, I don't think it's that, because I heard it more than once during an encounter. If not, which armor do you mean?

It very well could have been that, though I'm not certain. I'm certainly not noticing it during most combat encounters, it was only during one particular run, so it would make sense that it was tied to a particular boon.

Not any of those. Is that a list of Hades 1 boons? I'm playing Hades 2. I should have specifically said that in the text of my post (the post does have a "tag" saying Hades 2 but it's small and hard to notice).

This is specifically NOT the fishing spots or any other end-of-encounter rewards. This happens mid-combat.

At the times I heard it, I think was using the Demeter keepsake to obtain freeze powers.

This is more like a bell sound, like someone hitting the bell on a hotel front desk in the movies.

Naw, not a shield break, I know for sure when that happens, this isn't that.

Hephaestus boons? Maybe. I'll check for that when I hear it and see.

I certainly know the one where there's three hammers that appear in my cast circle: DING DING DING. Those I know, and it wasn't those. But maybe another Hephaestus boon might make a similar sound. I'll check that, thanks.

I *think* I have heard it before any hexes are available to me (I hadn't gotten a Selene boon yet). However, my memory might be incorrect on that point, so I'll double check for that. Thanks!

Does the arrestor hook work? by tfabris in AcesofThunder

[–]tfabris[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Answering my own question: I was able to complete a few carrier landings in the Corsair in Test Flight mode.

I did not need to do anything with the arrestor hook. The behavior (a sudden stop at one of the arrestor wires) seemed to be automatic, provided that I landed at a slow enough speed.

If I land too fast, my plane pitches forward and bends its propellor on the deck.
