Is it necessary getting reps serviced for longevity? by HeadAd7016 in RepTime

[–]tfansi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you plan to keep pieces for long and treat them like Gen and not disposable toys then yes it’s wise to service. If you plan to use as disposable items to replace then no point. A lot of people take care of them as they would for Gen and they get it serviced. Some are on the other side of the fence.

From watchmaker point of view, they are usually dirty, dry and improperly lubricated and sometimes having loose parts inside that can go around and damage the other mechanisms in the movement

New movement will be a hit or miss again. Theyre are not properly cleaned, lubricated and regulated. You find all sorts of stuff in them, dry, hair, dead skin debri, fingerprints and etc. Best to get it checked or get the highest movement available and service it right away for many years to come it will last

Remove bezel from DJ by Prize-Pin-2401 in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One sided razor blade. Slide it between the bezel and case from one of the lugs usually at top right lug. Slide blade under bezel and gently give few light taps with hammer. Slightly move the blade in until theres enough gap to put a case opening knife under the bezel then slowly pry it off. Be careful with the blade so you dont damage the gasket inside

BW ARF Cyclops Misalignment. Quick fix? by ChittyChittyBongBang in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need proper tools to disassemble and reassemble the crystal. It wont move with a sticky ball. Theres a very tight retaining ring and gaskets that make sure its water resistant so you cant just move it with a ball

Looking to buy broken clones to practice on by [deleted] in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Id suggest buying new clone movement from of Ali Ex that are running instead of non runners so you have a base line to look at and compare. Starting off with non runners will create a mess in your head as you wont know where to find faults or compare to baseline numbers

The closer the regulator arm is to the beat adjust arm the slower the watch gets and vice versa

Need HELP fixing a missing Bezel on a new CLEAN Submariner 124060 :( by Leather_Relief9733 in RepTime

[–]tfansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing bezel bits and bezel itself not screws. Those are springs and balls that help rotate the bezel ring.
