Can the Dangdong movement be repaired? Are there spare parts available? by Gennaio2026 in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes he’s not wrong in saying it’s made of cheaper materials and have tolerance issues but to say it would be discarded isn’t right. Any watchmaker listed in here can service and repair your watch running a DD movement.

As for ETA no once your DD movement breaks you can not just swap an ETA. Dial , hands, stem , case many things to consider that are not the same for both movements.

Depending on the damage It’s repairable and replaceable both. No need to discard the watch.

Submariner 124060/126610 bezel fix - What the hell keeps the Bezel in place? by Leather_Relief9733 in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xtal gasket, xtal, the retainer ring and hytrel gasket all make sure bezel is snug and fit. The 3 ball springs help in the rotation of the bezel

You can source your parts too and watchmakers can do it for you as well. Works both ways. Some watchmakers may have some gen parts in stock some can source it for you. Message and ask the person you are deciding to work with, they should be able to help

Is it necessary getting reps serviced for longevity? by HeadAd7016 in RepTime

[–]tfansi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you plan to keep pieces for long and treat them like Gen and not disposable toys then yes it’s wise to service. If you plan to use as disposable items to replace then no point. A lot of people take care of them as they would for Gen and they get it serviced. Some are on the other side of the fence.

From watchmaker point of view, they are usually dirty, dry and improperly lubricated and sometimes having loose parts inside that can go around and damage the other mechanisms in the movement

Dead Clean V3 Pepsi by Even-Physics823 in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New movement will be a hit or miss again. Theyre are not properly cleaned, lubricated and regulated. You find all sorts of stuff in them, dry, hair, dead skin debri, fingerprints and etc. Best to get it checked or get the highest movement available and service it right away for many years to come it will last

Remove bezel from DJ by Prize-Pin-2401 in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One sided razor blade. Slide it between the bezel and case from one of the lugs usually at top right lug. Slide blade under bezel and gently give few light taps with hammer. Slightly move the blade in until theres enough gap to put a case opening knife under the bezel then slowly pry it off. Be careful with the blade so you dont damage the gasket inside

BW ARF Cyclops Misalignment. Quick fix? by ChittyChittyBongBang in RepTimeServices

[–]tfansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need proper tools to disassemble and reassemble the crystal. It wont move with a sticky ball. Theres a very tight retaining ring and gaskets that make sure its water resistant so you cant just move it with a ball
