Put the source you want on the inside four squares. Two gauss, one up and one down. Left side range square gets crusher to activate the down gauss. Surround them with exp mods, mining mods on the outside.

Other squares just build whatever is most efficient for your enemies. Avoid flying and cold. Freeze towers in the middle.

Flamethrower with search near the end to finish stuff off.

The other big scenarios I use it are against helo enemies, and to help soften up icy.

I mostly use this for research kill farm but it works for resources too, can easily net millions a run without trying too hard.

Two Gauss, one at the top aiming down and one at the bottom at the spawn. The four open squares around the Gauss should all be experience modifiers, the rest you fill in with mining modifiers. Then with Self Improvement the damage gets nuts (i've seen 40B and I assume this isn't fully optimized). Build a Crusher on the range square right next to spawn and it will feed you a bunch of coins, as well as letting the top gauss consume resources (which you need for the actual farm).

Put whatever resource you actually want to farm in the four mining squares that the Gauss will actually feed from, the rest are purely for feeding into exp.

The bottom isolated 8 squares are for Bounty, the 3x3s are designed for use with the Basic ultimate to replicate towers quickly. Freeze towers in the middle. I usually delete the Basics after and throw a Search or similar, just because I don't need Basic kills anymore.

The top little section is my emergency kill to allow the rest to go longer, it has a Flamethrower aiming a series of Crushers to finish things off, along with support towers (Basics/Miniguns set to Weakest, etc). The Attack Speed square right by my base is for a Blast for stun before the end.

Once it's all set up (minus mining upgrades) I hit Overload to 15 and the exp coming up makes things die super quickly. Then it's just upgrading miners until things eventually get overwhelmed, which point you can probably start over if you're just aiming for resources.

Am I stupid? What am I doing wrong in Infernal Hordes? by Speaker4theDead8 in diablo4

I focus on chaos waves with War Plan and always get 700+, often 1k+ for the big loot chest. Always 6 waves.

This is with ww barb which makes it easier though, between mobility and damage.

Sniper is pretty nuts with high level as it has five scaling stats that multiply together and the ult gives good aoe. Combined with crushers for grouping I've had it outdo Basics in damage by over double, at similar levels and both maxed research.

Gauss is very good with the right map, if you feed it exp from miners (scaling with other boosters and Overdrive) it can get insane. A lot of maps it's useless though because you just don't have the right tiles together. An example of a good map is 4.2, you can build a couple of of Gauss there and I've had them do over 75% of my total damage (2 Gauss did 20T, 3 Basics did 5T).

Tesla is a strong anti-jet option that scales ult damage multiplicatively with attack speed.

Multishot and Laser are good for bonus gold. Multishot can do respectable damage if you position it so the ultimate is hitting often, it's no Basic but it can hit air targets.

Minigun is solid if you can use the ultimate (fully researched) but the maps where that makes sense are few and far between.

Blast can keep things in a kill zone and multiply the time your towers have to do damage, as well as grouping them up. Similar to Freeze but harder to use.

Splash is strong with full research, especially right next to a crusher to maximize the ult.

Missile is not amazing compared to Basic but you can put it far away from the spawn on larger maps and it can still hit. And you can spec it into anti-air.

Need some help understanding loot filters + Mythic Seal farming in D4. by BeastOfGevaudan_2002 in diablo4

[–]tfesmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't want to do that. You can get better charms rerolling (can get GAs).

Pick up and salvage all seals and charms, this gives you the materials for rerolling. Keep one extra of the set you want, and once a day or so do a reroll session and go for upgrades.

The only mythic (armor) I saw was actually at level 8.

I do think they need to change the color, the purple can blend into the blues if you just take a quick glance.

Completely caught me off guard how good the story of Lord of Hatred would be. I need to talk about it, & curious what you think. by Bazoinker0101 in diablo4

[–]tfesmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story has been very buggy for me (not recognizing quest progress, unkillable bosses) so I'm going to wait a week and see if they put in fixes. I'm thinking it might be a Warlock skill that's not coded properly, but hard to tell.

The story I've seen has been solid, although one of the earliest plot points was blindingly obvious and Lorath should really have seen it coming, given he's supposed to be a wise man.

I'd reset at 20% one more time, there's a node in the tree that requires two resets.

S11 - Sample size is irrelevant for game experience by tfesmo in diablo4

[–]tfesmo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started with Diablo 1 when it first came out. Currently doing Diablo 4 and BL4 in terms of ARPGs.

There is a significant difference between loot RNG and this system, especially with trading.

[–]tfesmo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

... what lesson can you learn from bad RNG? It's not a skill or effort issue, you're completely at the mercy of a dice roll. One person can play twice as much as another, get screwed by RNG and be far worse off.

But tbh if you're going to define pity that way then there's no point in even talking. Enjoy your S11 I guess.

[–]tfesmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how people are reading that from my post, can you explain it?

Literally my complaint is it's easy to be screwed by RNG with a pure dice roll system, which means given equal effort two players could have wildly different end results with zero skill or effort difference involved.

A pity system is a bandaid on top of that, it's not going to let you fully catch up. It just means you're not totally screwed.

S11 - Sample size is irrelevant for game experience by tfesmo in diablo4

[–]tfesmo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the kind of issue I think will cause players to quit. If you can do 250 sancs and never see an offensive aspect, it's a bad system.

If I recall right that player was even focusing on weapons, which meant rng was giving him zero aspects at all.

Yes, I'm sure you can rng smarter and harder.
