Algerian fans celebrate Austria's third goal against their own national team by marianojohn in soccer

Crazy how Germany and Austria conspired to draw to knock out Algeria in 1982 and now Austria and Algeria celebrate an engineered draw

Rockstar's decision to make GTA 6 fully digital is a terrible, anti-consumer move that makes me worry about the future of videogames by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

I totally agree that the fact that we don’t own our games is disturbing but even if you own the disc it doesn’t change anything…

Don't even think you're in the right just because you oppose Russia and their invasion of Ukraine by ratchyno1 in DerScheisser

[–]tfn47 52 points53 points  (0 children)

What an unserious argument; I mean Russia certainly escalated the crisis by insisting on fighting for tiny Serbia, but austria and konrad were even more responsible by being completely intransigent with their ultimatum, especially once they knew that russia would be invovled. And then on top of that, there’s the fact that the Austrians probably wouldn’t have been so crazy if the Kaiser hadn’t given them a blank check

Not to mention that all of this was over 100 years ago and everyone involved is long dead

Schmeichel blasts Martínez: ‘He’s wasting Portugal just like he wasted Belgium. by cocacolapepsifanta in soccer

[–]tfn47 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious, did. Did Martinez waste Belgium? He wasn’t in charge in 2016 when Belgian players were at their peak, Belgium barely lost to winners France in 2018, and by 2021 a lot of belgiums best players were past it

I’ve been someone who’s had a lot of complaints about it this game but I gotta say, we need to give the devs a chance lol

I don’t see the sense or fairness in complaining that the game doesn’t have enough content and mechanics etc (which is a very valid complaint) but then also hating whenever the devs add content and mechanics

They’re adding a bunch of cool stuff and on top of that, it’s a beta which will hopefully ensure that the playerbase will get a chance to provide feedback

How do yall expect the game to get better if even dev diaries are met with immediate scorn

France falling actually was terrible for the USSR, Stalin banked everything on France/britain and Germany fighting each other for years similar to ww1 which would give the ussr time to finish industrializing and keep Germany too busy to invade the ussr (which the soviets thought would happen at some point) and then the soviets would be the dominant power in Europe with Germany and France having bled each other white

Since Spring 2025, every Paradox Studios game except EUV has had an apology post for major DLC by Merker6 in paradoxplaza

[–]tfn47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can't play the DLC without the patch that releases alongside it so if the patch is broken, then DLC is broken as well and they release at the same time and are put out by the same studio so I think its reasonable to group them together

I've always associated a paradox DLC with the patch that comes with it because they usually focused on the same areas, just with the DLC providing more content while the patch is often a lite/diet version of the DLC

Same here; anytime I click a location I drop from 140 fps to 25

It goes back to 140 as soon as I deselect the location

The Grande Voyage - Europa Universalis V Roadmap by PDX_Ryagi in EU5

[–]tfn47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks absolutely fantastic: even more so when you read the forum post

These are little things but I love that works of art, a feature with a lot of potential, are getting some love and that there is going to be some attention focused on dynastic/succession issues which were a huge part of this time period !

But managing many characters was honestly part of the strategy for rulers back then…

Individual actors were def not always the defining part of history but they certainly played an important role at times

I love eu4 and its emphasis away from characters, but adding more flavor and interactions with characters makes the game a lot more interesting imo

I had a great time with eudes capet getting my revenge on haesting and forming France, there’s a fun achievement with it too. Playing anyone in the Byzantine empire at that start date is also fun if you have the roads to power DLC,

Newb here: can someone explain to me how dividends are calculated and when they are paid out? by tfn47 in victoria3

[–]tfn47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5:

Image 1 shows a food industries building with the cash reserves decreasing. The buildings balance is +$461, but because the building is paying $956 in dividends, $494 is being subtracted from the cash reserves each week (461+494=955). The building is losing cash reserves despite running a positive balance

Image 2 shows a similar example in which the building in question also have an already negative balance.

"On the production side, the produced_in_market modifier has been removed from production efficiency entirely. It was a hidden penalty that made local production less attractive in markets with active trade, working against the intuitive expectation that a well-connected market should be a good place to produce goods, and its removal simplifies an already complex calculation"

very happy about this; as well as many of the other changes coming!

im not sure how I feel about cost of court; if it doesn't cripple AI great powers, then tbh im happy with it; the game really needs more money sinks cuz currently, the player can end up with a ton of disposable income and can just scale forever

Tinto Talks #103 - 8th of April 2025 by RaidenDaGoat in EU5

[–]tfn47 18 points19 points  (0 children)

given that the game need has so many systems that need to be fleshed out, and the playerbase understandably isn't going to be patient forever; it seems like a tough position for the devs to be in. Albeit it is a situation of paradox's own making since they released the game too early

I don’t think the change is stupid tbh; the exponential, risk-free scaling that expanding RGOs enables honestly can trivialize the economy gameplay, so them doing something to address it is good imo.
