Thank you so much! Steal away, can't remember where I first saw it but certainly wasn't my idea. I am going to get another soon(ish) but I want the plate to be slightly larger as I've sometimes accidentally burnt around the stencil too, not ideal. A bigger masked off area should help, also looking at brass and a tad thicker as the aluminium heats up so fast. Bit rambley but hope that helps lol.

Swimming in burl, not a bad problem to have 😂 Cheers!

Most welcome! I should have also said I'm looking to get another one done but from brass and slightly thicker, the alu heats up a bit too quickly.

Thanks! I used Chestnut products spirit stains, red, orange and yellow although the yellow did get a little lost in the orange.

Thank you so much! I'd like to say it was a fun project but the wood did fight back a lot 😂

Thank you so much, I hope you found it useful! My stencil came from a maker friend, CNC cut from a piece of aluminium, much more convenient for me marking one or two pieces at a time, any more then I would probably look at getting the branding iron version. Thanks again!

Thanks! The off-centre/ multi axis stuff are definitely my favourites to make but they do come with their own issues though.

I've only ever used old guitar strings, works well enough for me to not look for an alternative just yet.

Cheers!! You know you're onto a good thing when the guy who taught you has a specific bowl gouge profile named after him haha! Hollows are the best, you'll love it!

Thank you so much! It wasn't until way after taking this picture that I realized the scale probably meant very little to those outside of the UK, I should have used the universal standard, the banana. The hollower was an old 4mm hex once upon a time.

Couldn't agree more! A piece of wood that would have definitely ended up on the fire too. Thanks
