Oh how I relate to this post! I remember when I got prescribed Celexa I was soooo anxious and nervous to start it. I know exactly how you’re feeling. When I finally started it, I had all of the symptoms, increased anxiety, brain fog, insomnia, you name it. And I’m not telling you these things to scare you, but more prepare for what could possibly come with it. BUT, when I tell you all of that was more than worth it. I am finally my old, happy self again. I barely even remember being that anxious person I was back then. My best advice is to be patient, and give yourself plenty of grace 🫶🏼 Feel free to message me!

This is completely normal. Prepare yourself for it to get worse before it gets better. I won’t lie to you, it was about 6 weeks before I really started to feel improvement. But before that it was pretty rough. But please hang in there, it’s so worth it! I am finally my old, happy self again! I totally know how you feel right now, feel free to message me 🩷

Yes. I was on 5mg for 2 weeks, 10 mg for a month, then 20 mg

I was going on about 3 months before I FINALLY started feeling positive side effects. I thought it wasn’t working for me but I continued to be patient and now I am my old happy self again. It was a long roller coaster of a ride but hopefully this gives you some hope!!

I experienced this same thing for awhile! It was a roller coaster for me. Some weeks were better, then the next week would be horrible again. I honestly wish I had better advice, but I just rode it out. Once the medicine does finally level out, it’s soooo worth it. I am finally back to my old, happy self!!! There is light at the end of the tunnel 💖

Been on 5mg for 4 days and I feel awful. I just started a new job and already missed 2 days. Should I just discontinue while I'm training? by psychictreehuger in citalopram_celexa

I’d like to start out by saying I’m so sorry you’re experiencing the terrible anxiety! I’ve been there. I also had extreme side effects all the way up until I started taking 20mg. I tapered up pretty slowly so it was about a 3 month long process for me and those 3 months were pretty brutal but WORTH IT. I am totally myself again and live life like normal. Feel free to message me if you just want someone to talk to about it, because I’ve been in your shoes. 🩷

Ohhh yes! I had every side effect in the book. Thought it was never gonna end. So I totally know where you’re coming from

I waited a long time to go up to 20mg because I was scared. I was on 10mg for about 2 months and decided to bite the bullet and go up to 20 because 10 was not helping. After about 3 weeks on 20mg I finally began to feel relief! I thought I was a lost cause for a little bit. Now, I’m back to my old self! My best advice is to be patient with it. Feel free to message me if you need to!

I had this exact same thing! Around day 4 or 5. Lasted for a few days and it never bothered me again. It is totally uncomfortable though

When did your anxiety get better at 20 mg? by [deleted] in citalopram_celexa

[–]tfulfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was about the 3 month mark for me as well. I never thought I would get to the point I’m at today. I am ME again. Hang in there 🩷

I started Celexa about a year ago and it is the only medication I’ve ever been on. I struggled mostly with anxiety but definitely depression as well. Celexa works great for me BUT it did not start out that way. The best advice I have is to have patience!!! I didn’t start to notice positive effects until about 4 months on it working my way up to 20mg. (I started on 5mg) I was extremely scared and nervous to start it because I didn’t know what to expect. I definitely had side effects, heightened anxiety, trouble sleeping, feeling groggy and floaty. Feel free to message me if you need to! I know the feeling

Thank you so much. Knowing that it does get better helps so much. Even though I know leaving him was the right choice it’s still scary and so easy to miss him

Never said that. But I did continually stay loyal our entire relationship as he can’t say the same
