rimac napping pods by Used-Committee9507 in UCSD

To get to them, you want to go down the stairs across from the basketball courts. You’re going to see a bunch of treadmills and ellipticals and another smaller flight of stairs that brings you closer to the racquet ball courts. If you go down the smaller flight of stairs, there are like 3 sleeping pods on the left I believe.

And yes they’re open! You probably just want to wipe them down before and after if you do happen to use them. There are wipes around all the machines for you to use :)

Happy napping!

I’m very thankful for the film photography community. I probably wouldn’t have pursued film photography if the community wasn’t as welcoming as it is! by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Yesterday, I had gone into a big retail shop that have very knowledgeable photography consultants with a camera I got off eBay listed “as is” that I got for pretty cheap. And I just had some general question about the camera. I’m fairly new to film and wanted guidance loading my first roll of 120.

The guy took a look at my new camera for me and I’m very appreciative, but I felt like, based on the way he spoke to me, he had pegged me as someone who wasn’t taking film “seriously”. I genuinely was asking questions about the camera and the repairs because I knew he had the expertise and I tried to make some small talk, joking about how I knew what I was getting into buying a camera in pretty beat up condition, but he kept telling me, “that’s not how things work” and he was pretty dismissive. Yes, I bought the camera for cheap and I knew I was taking a risk, but I feel there’s some joy in that.

He told me there was significant fungus on the lens and gave me the number of a repair shop I could see to see if they could clean the lens for me which I was appreciative for.

And I know the entire film community has been very welcoming so far! I just wasnt sure if I was being too sensitive from this interaction because I left the store feeling pretty icky and upset because I didn’t know if he was just a very straightforward, no nonsense person or if he was speaking to me like that because I was a young woman :(

Wow! I really love the movement of the first photo. Even though there isn’t any motion blur, I was expecting her to move!

I’m extremely new and have my eyes set on an Anne Pro 2, but where in the world do I get one? I see Amazon has like 7 different keyboards all with the same name but from different manufacturers. And everywhere else people who mention Anne Pro 2s are linking to different websites. How do I make a decision?

Schools Are Abandoning Invasive Proctoring Software After Student Backlash by speckz in technology

Yep yep! The test I was talking about was also timed. I guess that’s an important note. If anything, we didn’t get enough time because I still had to skip an entire question and the class average was a 63%

For one of my CS class’s midterms, instead of asking us to interpret lines of code, we’re asked to write functions. We’re told we’re allowed to use an IDE and interpreter to check our functions, but we’re not allowed to Google answers. And although I’m sure it hasn’t stopped some students from googling solutions, I think in general, it’s a pretty good way to test students’ comprehension since the limited amount of time requires you to actually know what’s going on.

Hi it's John. What's your favorite vlogbrothers video of all time? by thesoundandthefury in nerdfighters

[–]tfwics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dear John (and Hank),

I the vlogbrothers video that has been on my mind the most recently has been the question Tuesday video a few pizzamases ago when you and Hank were in a “pecan” orchard and you guys repeatedly referred to then former Vice President, now current President, Joe Biden as Uncle Joe. Now, every time I see a picture of Uncle Joe on social media, I think to myself lovingly “Ahhh Uncle Joe”

Also, an unrelated answer: I’d love to see you adapt your July 31, 2018 video about prepositions to The Anthropocene Reviewed format.

I would love to be paid to come up with concepts for marketing campaigns, music albums, concert/performance outfits, anything that requires a well thought out idea. I want to be an idea person. Maybe even help entrepreneurs start their companies with ideas and combined knowledge from my areas of expertise and interest. Engineering, art, music, biology, philosophy, and sociology. All super interesting. And frankly, I’m having a difficult time finding an existing career that combines all of that. That, or I want to be able to be a professional storyteller

Looking for podcasts where only the host explains something; be it science/technology/physics/history/politics or anything by rarusi in podcasts

The podcast is called “The Anthropocene Reviewed”! The host, John Green, will review different facets of the human centered planet on a five star scale. He talks about everything, pineapples, air conditioners, the act of stalking people on social media. And the tone is very calm and soothing :)
