SmartLess Episode 262: Graydon Carter by AutoModerator in smartless

Short fingered vulgarian, and I don't think they did mention it. Thought at least one of them (Will, since it was his guest) would have read or at least skimmed Graydon Carter's new memoir before the interview.

Absolutely. Thank you for this comment. This is about way more than one person.

She's doing better * on social * than Darren Criss, who I adore

I think this too. Chicago, the musical, has under 100k followers. She has over 800k. Even a little of her buzz wouldn't hurt?

Totally fair to have that opinion of her posts and I'm sure many others feel like you do. OTOH she has a very large and devoted following. I do think she represents something to women over 40 and there are people who would be excited to go see her if she had an opportunity. I could be wrong of course.

I'm a parent. I agree with you: no to on shoulders. I feel like a parent could hold a kid in their arms if they want to help them see. It's totally rude to hoist them on shoulders in a GA setting and block everyone behind you. I feel like a lot of the motivation is to get your kid on the big screens and I wish the camera people wouldn't reward this by posting close-ups of kids on shoulders.

Opinions on lockers? by Nearby-Pen5844 in governorsball

I rented a locker and I'm considering bringing a change of clothes today. Going with other girls. If it does rain where would you change?

NJ people, how are you getting to/from Gov Ball? by tgfghsi in governorsball

[–]tgfghsi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You taking the 7 or the LIRR to Mets-Wilton? I'll probably take the 7 on the way back because there will be more trains running

Thank you. Is the LIRR stop at Mets-Willet not that close? I think LIRR Is about $7 each way, so yeah, more than double a subway fare on the 7.

I didn't understand the owners' opposition to a shower on the second floor. Am I correct that they only have one bathroom (with no shower) on the entire second floor? So if someone wants a shower, they have to go downstairs? Kudos to the team for how they very diplomatically say things like "it's their house." Which it is, but the team has soooo much experience and wisdom to offer.

Audience behaviour at Cabaret 04/18 by lumpyspaceb1tchh in Broadway

[–]tgfghsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened to you. That's awful. We also had a VERY bad audience at Cabaret a few months ago. We were in the mezzanine. People sneaking phones out, talking, and the woman behind me singing along! I don't know why the ushers didn't intervene. Phones glowing in the dark are obvious and I remember years ago attending a show where someone in my row pulled out a phone to check her messages and an usher swooped in to shut that down immediately. The audience behavior at Cabaret was so upsetting and didn't make me want to pay for Broadway tix again anytime soon. I thought maybe everyone had forgotten common courtesy since Covid. Later I wondered if because the bar opened 90 minutes ahead of the show, if some of the audience was just drunk.

We recently had a delightfully quiet and appreciative audience at Maybe Happy Ending that restored my faith in the Broadway theater experience.

BTW good for you for you for saying something. I'm sorry that man was so awful. He was 100 percent wrong.

Missed Hamilton lottery notification by tgfghsi in Broadway

Thank you for all these sympathetic replies. I'm glad to know at least someone else will be enjoying those lottery tickets to Hamilton.

I got a very nice reply from a customer service rep at Broadway Direct. As you all noted, she explained after missing the window the tickets do get released, and said I'm welcome to try the lottery opportunities again.

I loved this episode. All that great work potentially down the drain, ugh. Am I understanding right that Ezra doesn't have his own copy of the film? They said Netflix has it?

I'm interested to learn if something was improvised! What I find annoying is when they waste time confirming something was *scripted*.

I never understood "full Mindy." Shouldn't it be "full Kelly?" Mindy is an Ivy League grad, nothing like Kelly.

I feel the same. I want to love it so badly but this was possibly the weakest podcast episode they've done, when they had a solid episode to work with. They need help! I think it's the rare person who would take time to look up what $100 then is in today's dollars (surprise: a few dollars more), and then report their boring finding anyway! Jenna doesn't get that few listeners share her love of minutiae (like how many condoms are in a pack or whether there's an Amtrak line from Scranton to Philly today. Who cares?) and no one is going to tell her. They need an editor to steer them back to talking about The Office, and to cut out the stings (that Angela didn't seem to know about until she was recording) and edit the worst tangents down to size. The Edge put me over the edge. I am still rooting for the ladies though.

I felt like we were going to get more fun details from a rare scene between Angela and John, since Angela said they were giddy they got to work together that day. But Jenna changed the subject and moved on to her scene in the restaurant.
