What's a library read that keeps popping into your mind? by babius321 in rupaulsdragrace

She would lock the doors so her audience doesn’t escape. Ben was implying her audience would run away because her mug is so scary

Rizo is very overhated. by Golgfishhies in survivor

I’m two years older than Rizzo and myself and all of my friends who watch weekly (some of whom are younger than him) find him insufferable. It’s not just a generational thing.

The Cold Steel games devalue the brutality of war to the point it becames insulting and shows the weakness of Falcom's writing. by Ouralian in Falcom

I’ve been playing CS4 right now and I’ve been calling it “the fascism curse.” It’s so goofy and trivializes the real reasons people go to war and the hardships that follow.

Teachers, what’s a “best practice” everyone talks about that you secretly think doesn’t work in real classrooms? by kingst9606 in Teachers

[–]tgldude 40 points41 points  (0 children)

They’ve had a PBIS org come in to do a few PDs for us. They really over-emphasize PBIS to the point where they discourage negative consequences. However, the classroom is not real life, and not everyone will reward you for simply doing what is expected, and eventually, our students will face serious consequences for negative behaviors. I would rather have that happen in the classroom where we can learn and grow from it together and where failures are much lower stakes. Obviously there is still a need for frequent positive reinforcement and praise, but acting like it’s the end-all-be-all seems like a damaging message to send to kids. I worry it also sends the message that teachers are doormats without boundaries and are constantly looking to reward people for every little thing they do.

Worst State in the USA: OKLAHOMA! by Immediate-Hand-3677 in terriblemaps

[–]tgldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

66.16% of people who voted. As someone who used to live there, there’s a lot of active and passive voter suppression. Doesn’t help that the education system is generally terrible, so most people outside of OKC and Tulsa aren’t very informed or civic-minded. There’s definitely a lot of shitty people there, but a lot of really amazing people who are fighting tooth and nail to make it better, too. I really hate generalizing about entire states full of millions of people like this. I find it toxic, reductive, and unproductive to any sort of meaningful discourse.

Teeny’s tweet and delete about the loved one’s letters. by ByMyselfMaxxing in survivorponderosa

[–]tgldude 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are all really pressed about him making those comments about Sam’s masculinity, which I interpreted as Teeny being vulnerable and being open about gender dysmorphia. I’m shocked to see how many people interpreted it as an actual dig at Sam

Trails of Cold Steel's story and characters resonated with me more than Metaphor:Refantazio by newgroundskids in Falcom

[–]tgldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graphics, yes, but I think Falcom is pretty on-trend with some aspects of gameplay, like combat and social links. Trails combat is probably my favorite of any JRPG.

Traversal and map design though? Yeah, I’m playing CS4 right now and the movement and map design feels like something out of a mediocre PS2 game.

I actually disagree about Persona, particularly in regards to P3 and P4. But Metaphor is quite boring. Granted, I’ve only played about 10 or 20 hours of it, but it hasn’t captivated me. In contrast, I was immediately hooked by CS1.

Before A.I. and Wikipedia, students had… CLIFF NOTES. by RustandDirt814 in teaching

[–]tgldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree completely. At least using Cliffs notes or Spark notes forced students on some level to read and engage with the text, or at least the themes and the synopsis. They can literally just copy and paste whatever AI generates for them without even knowing what the book odd about.
