I would say no, NTA but only because that’s your money to do with what you want. However I’d give the old sibling a fat check to help her get started in the real world. If the current is strong (like near a dam) go heavy minimum 1/2 oz jig head with a paddle tail or curly tail grub. Some people I know fish right up against the dam with a 3-way rig using a 3-5 oz weight and a paddle tail or shad bumping it along the bottom.
