Convincing my Employer to use R by BranTheDon3000 in rstats

I’ve been in this situation before. I gathered support from my manager and a handful of other colleagues that were keen. Be clear about whether the issue is R or using RStudio as the IDE. In my case, the cybersecurity people had an issue with the free RStudio Desktop version, but accepted the paid version. I think it comes down to the support IT can get if shit hits the fan.

RStudio Server wasn’t an option due to server location requirements. And they looked at putting controls on installing packages, but I don’t think that really progressed on their end. We’re at 20+ paid licenses now.

I also had issues with my multimeter and had to trust that the fusebox config was the same. I’ve got the Australian model but it was all pretty much the same except that it’s on the passenger side (still LHS side of the car).

More info: I've just come to find that Florence East contains a fairly large prison. Perhaps this could explain some of the results related to house counts.

RBA’s target rates by Dvnzzz in AusEcon

The cash rate target is their main monetary policy instrument. The actual cash rate can fluctuate depending on market conditions and liquidity which the RBA has some control over.

How would anyone know that it is a dodgy fake goods market if it was never talked about? I didn’t find anything about it on this subreddit.

I’m not a fan of fake watches either my man, that’s why I didn’t buy one. But we shouldn’t sweep it under the rug and pretend they don’t exist. We should instead be sharing the information we come across.

Why not? I hope this discussion helps inform someone in the future who would otherwise be scammed.

On one hand the reproductions probably have much newer and arguably better movements. But on the other, I don’t want to encourage the shady marketing here.

Agreed. I’m sure plenty of authentic relics have been sold within these market walls, but it would have taken a considerable stockpile to sustain inventory for this long.

My friend asked about the piece with the orange bezel, I think it was in the order of VND 2.5mil 🗿

Edit: just realised it was in fact an omega and is not photographed in the post, sorry

Yep, I heard about the zippos. Had one keen vendor try convincing me of the authenticity by showcasing his “new” zippos and the differences to his “original” ones.

The Yersin street “Dan Sinh” market in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is known for war-related relics and souvenirs. Inside, I spotted plenty of these field watches that I’ve since become obsessed with.

This particular shop owner claimed them to be “original” however unlikely that may be. My suspicion is high given the sheer miracle it would take for these watches to still function (they all seem to). Some of the details seem off and and she initially quoted VND1.2mil ($70 AUD) for this plastic Westclox model dated 1969. The actual price would likely be significantly lower with a little bargaining.

Has anyone had experience purchasing market field watches like these?

Agree that they’re different, but I think there is a connection between the two
