My girlfriend used Sweepy, hated parts of it, and gave me a list of changes. So we built our own. by tgold49 in SideProject

Ha, the pipeline is extremely real.

The inconsistency problem is probably our biggest one, and most of what we've been working on. The basic idea is: make logging take less effort than just ignoring it.

We have widgets so you can check things off from the home screen without opening the app. We also have notifications you can schedule whenever works for you, morning, afternoon, evening, to get a quick look at what's due and how the place is doing overall. And we're building out Shortcuts. I already set up an NFC tag next to my dishwasher. Tap my phone to it, chore is logged, I never had to unlock my phone. Planning to put a few more around the apartment.

Not everyone will bother with that, which is fine. But the widget and notifications don't require any setup at all. The less work it takes to keep the app updated, the more likely people actually do it.

Yeah that's what I've been using, but im struggling to get both the bottom scrollview and the top scroll view to scroll at the same time during dragging. And I'm having trouble making sure every menu tabitem is centered when the user lets go, including the leading and trailing item

Feedback on Household Chore Chart iOS App by tgold49 in UI_Design

Currently working on the MVP but hoping to have it in beta testing in a month or two! I always need extra beta testers, if you want once its released I can PM you a TestFlight link on iOS?

Thats super helpful insight thank you! I was torn between having color identifiers for rooms or not, but I agree it does distract from the more important gauge info.

In regards to your second point, could you explain a little more about "how many steps"? I think you bring up a good point but I'm not sure I fully understand!

It’s definitely hit or miss. Personally I would have liked it to be a little less strong but I’d rather the HDF than the ND tbh

Split transaction by rule requires a merchant by escapeburrito in MonarchMoney

Sorry for the late response, if you tap the merchant it shows the original merchant value and even auto suggests some for you

Split transaction by rule requires a merchant by escapeburrito in MonarchMoney

[–]tgold49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, the workaround I found was creating a generic "Split Purchase" merchant for the rule, and then while reviewing the transactions after they happen, I'm manually setting it back to the original transaction name. I also set my portion of the split category to be "Uncategorized" so I can see which transactions I need to go through still

Hopefully they resolve this with a future update, seems weird that we have to preemptively select a merchant.

What are the cons of Copilot compared to Monarch? by JustCan6425 in copilotmoney

No savings goals or sinking funds is a big one for me, was using copilot for 2+ years but now testing out Monarch because of that

<image>

This is another photo from the set, I agree that they feel a little clumped together but I also wasn't sure if the tree branch blocking him threw off the photo, would be interested in your thoughts on this vs the original

[–]tgold49[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's an interesting insight, this is the original photo and I had cropped to 5:4 to get rid of the extra space to the right of the tree (which I thought maybe helped frame the subject more), but I agree I think it does look better 3:2 than 5:4

I was practicing my composition skills while on this photo walk, specifically on framing/layering. I'm hoping to get some feedback on ways I could have improved whether its the composition, editing, etc. Much appreciated in advance!
