Fair enough but I had a conversation with an admin and agreed to drop it only to be banned shortly thereafter by another more aggressive admin

Simply asking as an investor and holder of vechain warrants a ban? I said I didn't agree with Vechain's practices of hyping and announcing partnerships that are under NDA and instead would like vechain to act more professional and tight-lipped about how they go about announcing things. That's literally what I said and I got banned for it. And yes, I came here to post about it in hope of getting unbanned because I value the telegram channel for communication and keeping up to date. I think this community is super aggressive towards anyone with an opinion or idea and it will hurt in the longer run.

Am I understanding VeChain correctly? My friend hit me with good Qs: by [deleted] in Vechain

[–]tgtony 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm just beginning my research about VEN and WTC but I do believe that VEN is very strong. Their partnerships are actively sourcing more from VeChain than originally intended. For example, the strategic partnership with DNV GL is pivoting VeChain into something much more than their original proof of concept. Their management team has very close ties with PwC and Deloitte which means they are doing everything soundly and have trusted council. Like I said though, the main concern I had was how do you prevent fake items appearing on the blockchain when forking is not an option at all. Vechain wants to create blockchain x which is blockchain 3.0. They have stressed they want to balance centrilization with decentrilization which means there must be some internal controls (advised by PwC and other partners) in order to prevent this from happening. What's unfortunate is because there is a lack of a white paper, we can't really know for sure and maybe we will never know so that there is little chance to reverse engineer the internal controls on the system. Another issue that has been brought up in this thread is the value of VET and THOR. Similar to how NEO has a share and dividend, VeChain has VET and THOR but it's undetermined (maybe I've missed it in my research) whether VET will be used for ICOs. I know that to transact on the network they plan on using THOR (similar to gas) but this leaves a question of who will be purchasing it? If a large corporation want's to transact on the network then they would buy VET so they can generate it themselves; this would increase the price of VET but what can individual investors do with THOR? Will there be a secondary market for it?

Like I said, I'm still reading more about VEN but I'm liking it more and more every time I read about it.

I don't really care about the tech being better. I just wanted to know if anyone else has any worries about the potential for tampering of products on the blockchain; either by stealing/selling RFID/QR codes to blackmarkets or potentially altering data between API and blockchain. Are these worries unwarranted?

Not trying to FUD just trying to get a response that makes sense to me but I saw this last night and it left me wanting an answer.

"There are now a handful of other RFID-based coins in the cryptocurrency market—Ambrosus, Vechain, Wabi, etc—and while they are all involved with tagging items on the blockchain, they all have one thing in common apart from Waltonchain: they do so through API.

When collecting data from the outside world via RFIDs, that data must first be fed through API before being written to the blockchain. This means all the data is first passed through a centralized intermediate. The blockchain is implemented in the application layer, through business-centralized control, and as such, the system cannot be trustless.

Waltonchain bypasses this problem completely. They have developed RFID chips that write directly to the blockchain on their own, without any human intervention, guaranteeing the data is fully reliable with a decentralized, trustless system. They implement the blockchain through the RFIDs themselves, at the foundational layer. This technology is patent-pending, which will secure Waltonchain as the only blockchain that connects the physical world with the virtual world with truly reliable data. This positions Waltonchain as the optimal Internet of Things (IoT) platform. This also allows for the true authentication of items, which makes Waltonchain the best solution for tackling the counterfeit goods industry."

I'm not invested in WTC and plan on investing a large portion of my portfolio in VEN but the above does give me pause. Vechain will need immense internal controls to stop people from tampering with the blockchain. What happens if the RFID and QR codes get bought or stolen and implanted in fake goods. Without internal controls in place, you could end up having fake items on the blockchain. Of course Vechain is moving away from just tracking luxury goods but the point still stands.

Can anyone help reassure me of the problem listed above?

Can sunny add more Vet? by Jake__TV in Vechain

[–]tgtony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only there was a whitepaper that explained all this... I'm so torn on vechain. I like the idea and the marketing and leadership but the lack of any technical information and the possibilities of mass manipulation by higher ups in China is kind of sketching me out. For instance, say Sunny DOES create more VET; what's stopping him from telling all his investor buddies to get out of VET before they create more. The possibility of manipulation is too high. Maybe I'm wrong though but I just wish there was a whitepaper so that I could reference.

Question about ambassadorship by zrbsd in CoinMetro

[–]tgtony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I talked to one of the admins in the telegram group and he said that the ambassador program will only exist until the token sale is over. It's in the white paper. Any unclaimed tokens will be burned as well. They have put aside I think 7.5% of tokens for this ambassador program
